It just dawned on me that Big Baby being shipped out of town sort of came and passed like it was a forgone conclusion.  It seemed pretty apparent that he was going elsewhere after his iffy year last year and the ghosts of preseason shenanigans past.

Baby could be frustrating at times, but on the whole he was a guy that busted his tail for the Celtics when he was on the floor.  Many a time during the frustrating mid season "down times" for the C's he seemed to be the ONLY guy who gave a crap out there.

He's a knucklehead to be sure, but he hit some big shots and played a definite role in a couple of championship runs.

My favorite Baby moment has to be the buzzer beater when the chips were down at Orlando sans KG.  An absolutely huge shot.

As great as that moment was, it was just one moment.  The sustained moment he had at Detroit his rookie year was perhaps more of a defining moment though.  The C's with the new Big 3 had come out of the gates absolutely smoking.  Detroit was the team to beat that year, and the C' first loss of the year came against the Pistons at the Garden.  The Celts had something to prove when they went to Detroit.  The game looked like it was slipping away, but Baby went on something like an 18 point tear in the 4th and the C's took a big step up with the win.

Lastly, the brief, odd, bench dynamite duo he and Nate formed.  It was fleeting, but fun.

So, yeh...Big Baby don't the let the door hit you on the butt.   ;D

this one always creeped me out a little  ;)

I hope Baby and DH love playing together.  DH signs with Orlando (as he should) and they continue to be a better than mediocre team for many years to come.  And Dwight stays away from LA.

Best of luck Glen.

The best part of that game winner vs the Magic was him nearly taking out the young Magic fan ;D.

Wish you the best, ya Big Baby.

I LOVE Big Baby 4 life. My favorite moment against the Lakers, one of my favorite of all time. I'm sad to see him leave, Bass is a worthy replacement, but I would want BBD on my team any day of the week.
BBD I know you'll be the man in Orlando

  • It's all about the TEAM!
I was always hoping Baby was going to live up to his potential. His role replacing KG and beating Orlando with his buzzer beater as well as his Shrek-Donkey game were my 2 favorite moments of his. I also loved how that dude was just willing to take a charge like no one else.

Unfortunately, he made us all cringe one time too many this last season and it was kinda hard not to want to see that guy go as much as you loved him previously, it appeared his welcome was worn out. I sincerely hope one day Baby lives up to his potential. I just hope its not against us.

I didn't appreciate how BBD ended his tenure here in Boston, so I'll not be waxing about the good things he did here.

I wonder if he packs it in on Orlando now that he's got four years of guaranteed money coming to him.  NBA history has shown that big guys with conditioning issues tend to balloon up right after the ink dried on a long term deal, and don't get back into real good condition until the final year of their deal, if not ever at all.

I hear ya...and I do think it was time for him to go (plus I like Bass quite a bit), just remembering some key moments he contributed here.
