All said and done with this CP3 off season. I just want to say congrats to the Clippers. They will hopefully no longer be the joke of the league and finally be relevant.

Good for the Clippers.  It's gonna be fun watching the CP3 to Blake Griffin connection.

PS:  Hope they beat the you know what out of the Lakers!

You can say all you want about it being a great move by the Clips, but if they hadn't done the stupid Baron Davis pick where they gave up Kyrie Ivring, their they could've used Kyrie Irving OR the Minny pick in the Paul trade (not both), and still could've cut Baron Davis with the Amnesty rule.

Personally, I would've just stood pat, and the team would be:

C: Kaman, DeAndre
PF: Griffin
SF: Caron, Gomes, Aminu
SG: Gordon, Foye
PG: Kyrie, Bledsoe, (Baron if they wanted)

... And, Minny's unprotected 1st next year.  A little patience and they dominate for years to come.

Now, although they got 2 stars, both of them have had no-so-trivial knee injuries in the recent past.  They are taking a big risk, just to be relevant.

I don't want to see the Clippers do well. I want to see them fail continually as punishment for the way they've run their team over the past 20+ years.

Not happy to see Chris Paul go there.

I still think they will suck. Because that's not how it works. Griffin + Paul != Garnett + Allen + Pierce.

right, because the Celtics were so well run during the 90s and a lot of the 2000s.

kyrie is NEVER going to be even half the player chris paul is.  i would bet $1,000 on that (im a poor law student, so that's a lot).

I think they are a long long ways away from being a great team... They'll be exciting. But What has any of these guys won or done? Rookie of the year and and All Star. Butler, Griffin, and Paul all with serious previous injuries... Jordan a young non proven now over paid big man... No more shooting guard. They need a couple more deals and another year to make an impact.

CP3 was a solid acquisition but the impact he'll have on that Clippers team is being overblown a little.

EDIT: not in this thread but by the media in general.

Yes, but would you rather have:

a) Chris Paul and Mo Williams
b) Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Kyrie Irving, Al Faraq Aminu, Baron Davis (if you want him, cut him if not) and take your pick (Andre Drummond, Jeremy Lamb, Anthony Davis, Harrison Barnes, or Jared Sullinger)

They'll finish a few games under .500 still.

After splitting the championships in '08 and 2010 with the Lakers, wouldn't it be weird if somehow we get to the Finals in 2012 and face the LA... Clippers?  ;D

chris paul.

no guarantee the t-wolves pick will turn into any of those players you mentioned, and there's no guarantee any of those guys are stars.

and ill take chris paul over kaman, bledsoe, aminu, and irving.

basketball is about quality, not quantity, and chris paul is one of the best point guards of the past couple of decades.  when you can get a player like that on your team to pair with your superstar big man, you do it.  period, end of story.
