If he is out for the year or his career is over then wow.. That is just insane and awful for him. Incredibly sad. Most important is that this is no threat to his life.
We are pretty much done competing for the title though if he's done. We are a playoff team but not even a threat to be a contender without J Green. Sucks. I guess the window is closed if this is as bad as people fear.
Wouldn't mind seeing us blow it up if in fact he is out. There might not be another draft like this in the decade.
the issue is, could we even blow it up? of the big 3, paul pierce is the only one i could see another team taking on for any young players or picks, and i doubt there'd be much willingness in ownership to trade such an iconic player.
rondo, we know, is a player that ainge is willing to trade, but what could we really get for him? i wouldn't be surprised to see him traded around draft time next summer to move up into the lottery, but it seems unlikely that he'd go before then.
KG is valuable despite his age, and he's an expiring contract, but his contract is so huge we'd have to take on a lot of salaries, and probably bad ones, to trade him. not worth it.
Ray Allen's contract is large as well, though he probably has the most value to a contender. but what kind of young players would we get back for him? probably nothing too exciting.
i think the plan would still be to play out the season, get as far as we can in the post-season, and then blow it up over the summer.
