Do Celtics even have a shot at Clippers Pick?

I thought a team couldn't go consecutive years without a first round pick. Last draft they traded their pick to Cleveland. What does this mean for their pick this season?

They can trade it, because at no point were they left without a #1 pick in consecutive *future* years. 

The Clippers can't trade their 2013 pick.

The actual rule?  Google "Ted Stepian rule", or something along those lines.

We own the rights to the pick if it's outside the top 10 this year.  The pick has already been granted to us; it couldn't be retroactively revoked.

Not even sure what you are asking?  Barring the unforeseen, the celts will get the clippers pick next year.  The deal was that it would belong to the celts if it fell after 12. 

Well, now there is a chance that that pick will actually be after the celts own pick.  Who would have thunk that six months ago.

Oh well, that's how things go.
