I don't get the Pavlovic signig, since he is brought in for depth incase of injuries why don't they sign Gilbert Brown instead ?

I like the athletitism that was added this year to our bench,Dooling,Bass,Wilcox,Johnson then you have Bradley,Green and Rondo, Gilbert would be better, I like his game alot.

Agree. Brown deserves a chance, at least.. hope he makes the final cut

why don't they sign Gilbert Brown instead ?
For starters, because he's never played in an NBA game?

would have rather signed Delonte, but that's another story

unless Brown really impresses in the 8 minutes of practice that we have before the season, I'm guessing Sasha stays and the last roster spot will go to Greg S. or another big man camp invite

Sasha offers insurance and defense at the 3.  If Brown really incredibly overperforms, I'd think one of the other fringe players would be as much at risk as Sasha.

With a shortened pre-season, Pavlovic at least has familiarity with Doc's system.

Gilbert Brown could be one of those three final cuts who can be assigned to Maine (but another NBA team can still sign them up).  Basically, so long as you don't think another team will cut someone to sign him (and with no summer league and a short preseason, he had less of an opportunity to wow other teams), the Celtics are in a situation where if Pavlovic doesn't work out then they can cut him and perhaps sign Brown if they have successfully stashed him in Maine, but if Brown doesn't work out, the Celtics won't have the option of cutting him and going with Pavlovic because Sasha probably signs elsewhere.  Although Boston doesn't control rights to Gilbert Brown, it is a bit like a baseball team going with the player who doesn't have any options left and sending down the guy who may have more upside.

Sasha plays good d and can hit 3's.  He's still relatively young so with luck could end up being a solid bench guy down the road.

Zero chance an undrafted player beats out Sasha Pavlovic. Pavlovic was a starter on team that went to the Finals.

Opinion on Pavlovic aside, why? Delonte would have no role with us, plus he's injury prone. Don't need more of that right now.

We need more depth in SF, and Sasha fits much better than Delonte at the moment.

to be fair, there's a reason said finals team got swept . . . but yeah, we know for sure that sasha is an nba player.  we can't say the same about gilbert brown.  sasha isn't exactly unathletic, either.
