The Mavs signing Vince Carter. Its an iffy, slightly risky move move that can potentially blow up in their face, pay huge dividends or do nothing.

The Lakers's garage sell on big men. I don't mind them dismantling their entire front court getting Chris Paul at all (provided they don't land Dwight Howard). Kobe seems p---ed that Lamar Odom went just like that and that's a plus.

Magic getting Big Baby. Like Vince Carter, its an iffy move. But their end game here is to get Dwight Howard to stay (as Big Baby is his friend) which is desperate.

The Kings getting Chuck Hayes. No problem there but they're overpaying him a little.

Heat getting Eddy Curry.

Just thought of this. Kings getting Hayes, must mean they expect dalembert to walk. Because with Hickson, Cousins, and Thompson, its going to be a crowded front court.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

Well it's not something that happened in the off season, but Kendrick Perkins getting that contract for that length of time is crazy by OKC.

He is way overpaid in my opinion. If he had survived a year without injuries and proven himself in their system then maybe it's almost justified.
Still, they could have gone after any top FA center 6 months later and now they're stuck with Perk and Ibaka- probably the worst scoring front court on a contender this season.

Based on what I saw of Perk with the Thunder and reports I seem to remember of his calling out Thunder players in a "not so nice way," I was wondering if he might get amnestied.  They must be praying for a big improvement this season, because that was a fat extension he landed.

DeAndre Jordan -- He's almost completely unproven.  4 years, $43 million is pretty steep

Caron Butler -- Almost 32 years old, coming off two injury-plagued seasons.  3 years, $24 million.

Lamar Odom -- LA trading him looks like a very bad move

The big centers -- Tyson Chandler, and ultimately, Nene are going to be way overpaid.

Anyone signed by the Kings or Pistons -- Both teams have overpaid on long-term deals for role players.

As for Perk, I'd rather have Perk at $8 million than Chandler at $14 million.  Chandler has a better peak, but he also has more of a history of dogging it, along with a worse injury history.  There's a reason the Bobcats traded him for junk.

Holy cow I completely forgot about DeAndre Jordan. Although you can look at it as a high risk high reward type situation. Still, they could have paid them less.

On the flipside of the Lamar Odom trade, the Mavs got a pretty good deal. The only bad move the Mavs made really was Vince Carter imo.

The Kings did make one good move on paper imo. Cassipi for JJ Hickson looks great on paper. Their front court would be great but JJ Hickson is a locker room dynamite, (I think) needs the ball and can potentially just disappear as many headcase NBA players do.

Has there been a single good signing/contract over $5 million?

I don't think so. I can't think of any.

Oh, and of course perhaps the worst contract of them all:  Big Baby at 4 years, $27 million.  $6.75 million per year on a long-term contract for a guy who has battled weight issues and who isn't starter material.

The one year deals are justifiable.  Grant Hill and Jeff Green.  They're not bargains, but they won't hurt their teams.

How much did Battier sign for?  Did he get the full MLE or the mini?

Yeah, but they could have held him anyway for this year, and at least toyed with signing Nene or Chandler themselves..they have so much money to spend with all those young guys that spending 14 million on Chandler or Nene seems like a better idea.
Even signing Chandler wouldn't be perfect...I just seem them finding it hard getting all their points from Durant/Westbrook and Harden consistently for 3 playoff series in a row.

I won't count him out but I still feel they should have waited.
I guess they can waive him down the track if need be.

clippers refusing to trade eric gordon, the t-wolves pick, and eric bledsoe for chris paul.

most outrageously stupid, sure-to-haunt-them-later decision of the off-season.

they better hope that t-wolves pick turns into the next lebron / dwight.

how is jeff at 9 a bad deal?  it's only one year.  if wyc is willing to pay the extra luxury tax, what's the harm in giving jeff more than the qualifying offer for one year to keep him here till we have a better idea if we want to keep him?

would you have preferred that the celtics let him walk?  keep in mind they couldn't have spent anything more than the minimum on any other backup SF.
