First off, obviously another year means another year older, but even last year, they were right there with the Heat they just really fell off after Rondo's injury. This year however, we are better than last. DA has built a stronger bench, (Still a little slim at SG but other than that it's solid). We will have more time to integrate Jeff green who will only get better from last year, we will have players like Bass who can legitimately score off the bench, Dooling who is a very solid backup to Rondo, and who knows about Wilcox and JJJ? Maybe one of them surprises us.

All I'm saying is that there is a chance for 18. Nobody expected the Mavs to win it all last year and look what happened. Maybe Lebron breaks his leg. Who knows. I think we can beat the Bulls and if we can somehow win a series against the Heat then we can make it to the Finals.

What I do know is the Pierce, Garnett, and Allen will give us everything they have, because they are class acts and have nothing to lose.

Just felt this forum needed an optimism boost after all the hope was crushed from the failed CP3 and West trades.

There's always a chance!

Looking at the roster right now, I don't think the Celtics have improved all too much on 2010/2011. That said, they haven't gotten any worse. It feels like they are treading water right now and the improvement will have to be team based.

I don't feel any better or any worse about their contention capabilities than I did before Free Agency kicked off.

really????? bass wilcox and dooling will make you regret that. i said this last year this team needed some grit and hustle play plus these guys are solid at scoring one of them any night can give us an offensive boost. we didnt have that last year it was pray on green and davis and sometimes delonte if he wasnt hurt

Yup. I like the bench so far, although Daniels is kinda iffy for injury issues. Otherwise I think people overlook that we have a true PG to backup Rondo, a Jeff Green who can be more comfortable and ready after a training camp and pre-season. An  upgrade in Bass (over Baby) who has proven his ability to ball in ORL. I can't say I know a ton about Wilcox (and hes not even a C right? More PF i think) but he can crash the boards which by itself is something we needed badly.

Since JO and Wilcox will not get even close to all the C minutes, guess we will see more KG at 5. Good forward rotation at 3 and 4 with Peirce, and KG with Green playing both spots and Bass as the primary backup 4.

But my concern (like others I assume) is the center spot with JO our only real center. At least last year we had JO, Shaq, and Kristic or just two of them with KG and baby playing center if needed. Little thin this year.

Also another sg (preferably one that can shoot). I posted about this in the Rudy/Brewer post
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

Tyson Chandler put New York over us IMO.  Our post is just so weak.

I'm going to agree w/ this thread except for the part about RR... his elbow was fine when we were down 2-0, his arm was also fine when we barely won game 3 to go 2-1... even if RR doesn't get hurt we don't win that series (my opinion of course), you guys just need an excuse (as do I so I understand) to not admit that Mia was very much so better than us! I will say, that if Shaq had not been hurt THEN we are talking, b/c the only game we did win was when he was out there, which threw Mia for a loop, but they planned for him for game 4 and went at him and he couldn't move, game 4 loss. We can suprise though, you never know what the heart can do for you (will power) because the only one on Mia I know that has that will is DWade, LeGina hasn't shown me any of that... we 3 for sure, who does (RR a possible 4th person after what he did to Clev the year before)!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Even that addition cant solve the Knicks problem of "Knicks basketball: Where defense doesn't happen"

He can't fix Amare and Carmelo's flaws. However they definitely improved with him

I'm so afraid of NY now, they lost a great pg in Billups so I think Ray Ray and Rondo will end up killing them in those 2 positions, KG got Amar'e

Tyson improves their rebounds, ok great, but it doesnt put them over the top

danny didnt really sign too many big names, but I think we have a solid team...but it all hinges on health. we were arguably the best team in the NBA the first half of the season...then injuries hit and we were a shell of ourselves by the time the post-season came.

we've got some good depth on our bench...Bass is an 11ppg guy, as is Green(although maybe he gets better this year)

im not too worried about the center spot because theres really no teams who are our threats that have a scary center. I expect us to do alot like the Bulls/Heat who have their athletic PF's crash the boards

we really improved in that this year with getting Wilcox/Bass/Green/JJ thats alot of athleticism
