My hope for the season, as the off-season has gone forward:

+1 a million times. I cannot believe they used this on Wilcox. Oh well, at least they will make the playoffs.

There's potentially room, depending on what the Celtics do with their training camp invitees.  We could give Delonte a 20% raise over the minimum salary, or somewhere around $1.4 million total.

Wait, people are actually upset with this? That is too funny. One of the better bigs available takes only $3 million to sign with year....yet we complain.

Boy I wish we still had that $3 million to sign Reggie Evans or Joel Pryzbilla.

Seriously...now people are just looking for things to whine about.

even he got no raise I am sure he would think it beats being unemployed or going overseas...I think it is just the fact that DA didn't make an offer? which seems weird...at least invite him to camp? Something odd going on...besides me

Haha.  Exactly right.  Word on the street is that the Lakers might have jock-blocked our pony, by sending Lamar Odom to Dallas.  Supposedly, Dallas was Jermaine O'Neal's landing spot, which makes sense.  David West didn't want to wait any longer, and took Indiana's money.

Dang LA.

If Wilcox is one of the better bigs available, I guess this is a sure sign of how weak the crop of bigs is this offseason. Wilcox is a nice, journeyman player and a decent backup 4 who can play some at the 5. He is not being overpaid. However, the disappointment for me is I was hoping they had the MMLE for another player. Now that they don't, this is pretty much the roster that will start the season.

It is a terrible market. Bigs are a dying breed in this league. There is a reason guys like DeAndre Jordan are going from $900,000 contracts to $10,000,000 after even just decent years.

And honestly, the difference between the Mini-MLE and the Vet min is negligible for the guys we would be signing anyway.

Speaking for myself, I think Wilcox is a fine fit.  However, this news just fits in with the rise and fall of our off-season.

- First, it looks like we could get Chris Paul.  Yes!

- The Lakers get him.  Doh!  But the league vetoes!  YES!

- The Celtics trade for Brandon Bass!  Yay!

- The Celts trade for Dooling, and make a brilliant signing of Wilcox for the minimum!  Unbelievable!  An embarrassment of riches!  And we still have the MLE left, too!!

Followed by...

- No CP3.  The Celtics are basically out of it.

- No David West.  He signed with the Pacers.

- We don't have the MLE any more.

- Jeff Green is supposedly injured with a mystery ailment.

So, Wilcox is a good player.  However, spending the MLE on him is just one more disappointment in a string of them.  Not the hugest deal in the world, but something that makes things a bit less rosy than they were before.
