Every time Danny pulls off a "bad" trade (see Perkins, Kevin) or fails to pull off a "good" trade (see Paul, Chris) and every time the Celtics lose a game, I see a host of negative threads/posts. I call these "The Sky Is Falling" threads/posts and thought it might cathartic to create a truly dedicated thread.
Celtics fan for life.

the sky ain't falling. pardon the mixing of metaphors, but to me it's more like, the ceiling is low, and it's staying low.  not getting any higher.

to be honest, barring injuries/a big dropoff from our big 3 I think we'll still be a competitive team this year. Remember, no one gave the Dallas Mavericks a chance last year against the lakers, against OKC, against the Heat...yet they ended up winning a finals.

we were probably the best team in the NBA the beginning of the year with Shaq starting. unfortunately we were plagued by injuries and BBD crapping the bed in the playoffs...

maybe Jeff Green develops into the talent ainge thinks he can be off the bench.

im excited to see what Brandon Bass can bring us. he averaged 11ppg last season in 26mpg, is more athletic than BBD and a much better shooter...with Rondo dishing him the ball, im looking forward to see if he can be any better

Many titles in many sports are won by the "hot" team at playoff time. Who gets hot in the palyoffs often determines championships. Best team doesn't always win.

Mavs, Bruins, Pack and Cards in 2011 are the most recent examples. None of them had the best record or even close to it.
They all got hot at the right time.

Anybody remember the wild card NYGiants of '08?

Who knows what "Perkins, Kevin" would have been  ;)
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

I'll miss good ol' Kevin Perkins.

I wish we also signed Matt and Ivan Perkins, BBD would have probably wanted to stay.

Sky is not falling for me. This is pretty much what I expected for this season. A third or fourth seed in the East and a second round playoff exit. And then the real rebuilding begins. Danny has picked up a couple of nice pieces, but not enough to make a big difference. I will watch or be at every game, but my expectations are low. Any upside will be awesome, and I am looking forward to seeing the new players.

yeah.  it'll be nice to see them all playing again.  hopefully injuries don't totally derail the season.  i've definitely missed watching them, though.  whenever the season starts back up it always gets me how good it is to see the celtics in action.

believe it or not, ive actually never been to a celtics game, so im definitely going to take the wallet hit and make sure i get to a game to see the big 3 in action.  probably the last season where ill get a chance to do that.

By all means, get tickets for this season asap.  I am a New Jersey native, and go to school in Boston (I will not say whether or not the Celtics were a factor in my college decision).  I have been to many games in New Jersey, and three in the Garden.  The three games in the Garden were all much more exciting and way more intense than any of the games in New Jersey, as you can imagine.  I was there when Marquis went down last season.  To experience and be a part of the roaring crowd that went silent... you just know you're a part of something.

Season over. Great to see we got Reggie Lewis, some stiff who plays in Russia and the 23rd pick in the 2012 draft for Perkins. Nicely done.
