He is my kids favorite player.  They were floored when he was in trade talks.  I understand that you have to try to improve the team any chance you can get and everyone is expendable.

I think its important that Rondo takes another jump this year...hes going to have to carry more of the offensive load and be more aggressive.

We have some good post players in Wilcox/Bass so hopefully Rondo can get into the paint and feed it to those guys

he's fun to watch and he's entertaining, sure.

is that going to give us a better chance at a championship this year than we had going into the playoffs last season?

nahh.  but at least it'll be fun watching rondo for the next few years.

  If he's healthy, yes.

Ah, the plantar argument.

Deaf ears. Ran a marathon with it.

And Rondo himself has talked publicly since the summer about "overreacting" to the Perkins trade.

You are tough...ran a marathon, Rondo is tough, played through it...was it your best time?  "Overreacting" and blowing games are two different things.

Deaf ears?  Me, too! ha  ha ha

CP3 might be a better player, but Rondo is a better Pg if that makes sense. With this team you don't need to worry about how many shots the Big 3 are going to get, because he gets them the shots he needs.

He also isn't worried about ticking on of them off if he doesn't go to them when they call for it when he sees some thing else. Could CP3 do that?

Rondos only real weakness is FT shooting. And even then I think its in his head. He can shoot,50% isn't too bad, its just he really dosen't do it often, and at 50% only shooting it 10 times a game is pretty good. CP3 scores 18 a game and probably shoots 8 to 10 times more.

Funny how people also say he wouldn't be the point guard he is with out the good shooting of the 3. True, but he has to get them the ball at the right spot at the right time. Some of those pass's are insane, proably top three passing with his off hand next to Kidd, and Nash.

So if its just a srub team I'd take CP3. But a team with some talent, Rondo is the choice...
Like Red told Bill Russell: (paraphrased)...Do your job, fulfill your role, and stats will never be mentioned.

IMO Rondo does his job and fulfills his role exceptionally well.

So you do not think his job/role as the person who handles the ball the vast majority of the time is to keep the other team honest when the game is on the line?

Create going to the rim in said situations?

Use his athleticism to generate points at the line when the O is bogged down?

Or was his job to shut it down after his boy got traded last year.

I swear to god I do not dislike rondo, I have been pushed to this by the incessant willingness to make him into a superstar by the fan boys on here who just completely ignore his short comings when comparing him to elite NBA players and tack on untrue statements like, he lead us to a title etc

People don't ignore his shortcomings, they understand that he makes a big contribution to the team in spite of them.

Because, like every other injury known to man, there are no levels of severity with plantar fascitis. I once had a sore knee, and continued on in spite of it. Any nba player who missed games due to a knee injury is just making excuses.

If I remember correctly, Rondo had been playing on sore feet for a while,  when Doc said he was going to give him some time off to heal.  Donkey promptly announced he couldn't play as he had a sore ankle.  Rondo played.

Well I understand the sentiment for Rajon Rondo, but I think we need to explore all possibilities to improve the team and win a championship in 2012. At all costs.

If anything the last 3 years have shown us, we are only going as far as the Big 3 takes us.

Been thinking lately, and Rondo is a perfect starting PG for a rebuilding team. His contract isn't all that big, he's a pass 1st PG, he gets everyone involved, best PG defender in the league. I think we should keep Rondo and go after a really good PF next year/Center.

I'd say the team's gone as far as Rondo took them as much as the other way around.

yea but not all of us believe that trading half of our team for a pg who averages 5 points per game more than rondo is the way to do it

  • Rondo = Good

the only sense in which rondo is an ideal point guard for a rebuilding team is that he would be exciting (fan draw) while not actually leading his team to very many wins.  the team would still be bad and get a lot of draft picks, but you'd have an exciting guy throwing a lot of crazy passes.

once the team drafted some legitimate offensive options, rondo would be a solid piece to have.  but you'd have to get lucky in the draft and find some really good scorers.

Well, the Big Three are not getting any younger, but injuries to the bench as well as to the starters certainly didn't help.  Hopefully, the bench seems improved already, despite losing D. West today, and Danny still has a little time for more movement.  (I can't help it, I was born an optimist!    ;D )

Rondo plays hurt.   Just watch the series with the Heat in the playoffs.  He showed his guts in spades.
