Quote
“He’s irate under the circumstances,” Billups' agent, Andy Miller, said. “He felt this would be his final destination, and he was promised that he would be playing for a team that was going to be competing for the playoffs. He has no intention of being open-minded about any possible situation where a team would claim him off waivers unless it’s a team he chooses himself. Buyer beware.”

Seems like a situation KG can correct.

They are both buddy's. He delivered KG here, now KG needs to be on the phone with him immediately and get him into town.

He already said I believe that he'd consider Miami if this happened.

Why the heck didn't he negotiated a buyout with the Knicks and then he could choose wherever he wanted to play?

I'd say his 'irateness' is posturing for his holding out for a competitive team.

with a buyout he'd still be on the cap.  they only amnestied him so they'd have cap room to sign chandler.

Nope. He waives his total salary and his total salary is out of the cap.

Doesn't mean he wouldn't consider Boston. KG, PP and him a buddies. They need to make it happen.

I don't get why the Knicks want Billups out so bad. He was the only thing that kept them competitive agaist Boston last year. He goes down and the Knicks fell apart.

I don't think Chandler really will do that same type of thing. Plus who's running point??

They wanted billups salary gone to sign Tyson Chandler.  Pretty simple really.

well, the fact that billups probably wouldn't be willing to give money back in a buyout (as hamilton did with the pistons) made them choose amnesty.  with amnesty they don't need his approval.

Good conversation going on about this in the "Miami holes" thread.

I will always consider Chauncey Billups to be a punk going forward.  No class or professionalism.

Come to Boston to back up Rondo or go to Miami to start? That issue is a non-starter, really.

Can only happen if we ship Rondo somewhere in the meanwhile.

Chandler is a better option for helping NY get past MIA in a playoff matchup.

He is a deterrent at the rim and can really negate some of the strength of MIA's big 3.

The Knicks are believed to be pursuing Bibby for this year, but I could see them making a play for Nash at some point, maybe next year.
