The Indiana Pacers have told veteran swingman James Posey he does not have to report to training camp.

"He's not going to be with us," coach Frank Vogel said. "We're going to make a decision what to do with James at a later date, but he's not going to be in camp."

The Pacers can try to trade Posey, buy him out, use their amnesty clause on him or simply keep him on the roster but not have him around the team, as they did with Jamaal Tinsley several years ago.

Signing Posey would really feel like living in the past.

Posey might be worth the vet min for the hugs alone?
Stay classy, San Diego. Hello, Baxter? Baxter, is that you? Bark twice if you're in Milwaukee. Is this Wilt Chamberlain? Have the decency to say something.

Anyone still disagree with Danny for not giving Pose that 4 year deal after '08?

I don't think they waive him at least not right away as his contract would be pretty valuable in a trade (7.5 million expiring deal).
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Clearly it looks good now; I think we all knew that he'd never be worth his deal over the whole contract.  However, had KG not hurt hurt his leg in the '08-09 season, not having Posey could've blow up in our faces.

If you recall, we had terrible depth at the 2/3 that year, with Tony Allen as really the only reliable backup at the 2/3, and that was when he was still in his complete knucklehead stage.

Since KG hurt himself, we had no shot to win it all anyway.  But had KG been healthy and we narrowly lost in the Finals that year, partly due to poor depth at the 2/3, it could've been something Danny regretted.

I'd take paying Posey 7.5 million if we had Banner #18.
