As of 2:05 this morning in Houston, they are reporting the deal is going through. If so, who is playing center? We have nobody who is better than a third stringer. Something else must be afoot.

  • Rondo = Good
we're basically just gonna play two power forwards the way the magic played two small forwards in 2009.

considering how many minutes super-undersized glen davis saw at center the past couple of seasons, i don't think it's a big deal.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
KG at 7 feet is plenty. He will have some serious muscle to come and in and take over.
We will match up great against most teams.

KG vs Noah
West vs Boozer

KG vs Chandler
West vs Amare

KG vs Bosh (of defense)
West vs Bosh

If the Lakers get Paul we match up well vs Bynum too.

I'm very please with this.

We need West to start because of his offensive ability.
Rondo will be lobbing to him and peeling to him in the corner for baseline jumpshots and elbow jumpshots all day.

We just got a whole lot better at scoring.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

I'm sorry but West against those guys is a joke. 30/10 game coming.

Only play KG on a C if it's dwight.

I think this is a legitimate question.  Putting KG at the 5 at this stage in his career is a bad idea.  It's never been a good place for him.  If JO is in the West deal, then Wilcox is your starting center with Bass backing him up and Steisma the 3rd string...that's still an undersized center rotation.  Perhaps the Hornets buy out JO and he comes back to the C's just like Z did with the Cavs.

West on these guys is a joke?
Is that a joke? Just because the guy isn't on the all defensive team doesn't make him a terrible defender. He worked well with Okafor and with KG and a defensive juggernaut like the Celtics he will only get better.

The point isn't just about defense, it's about offense options and particularly dragging guys like Bosh, Amare and Chandler away from the basket so we can penetrate and use our ball movement. We have KG and West- quite possibly the two best shooting traditional power forwards in the game (i'm not including Dirk as traditional)- on the same team, on either side of the court.

Ever notice how successful the Heat are at this with Chris Bosh? He pulls KG or Boozer away from the hoop on the baseline, leaving Wade and Lebron much more room to operate in the paint. As soon as KG goes to help on the driving player, they dish to Bosh for an easy shot.
It's one of their bread and butter plays, and West gives us another awesome scoring option like this, from inside and from mid range that these guys will have to worry about.

not possible. He must wait till July next year to re join the C's.

David West has been a very good defender over the past several years.

We basically have an onslaught of power forwards that can play center. KG, Wilcox, West, Johnson, Bass - holy moly. KG is going to get all the rest he needs for the playoffs.

I'm sure the plan is to spend the MMLE on a guy like Kwame and bring in another vet min center and technically go with Brown, vet min and Wilcox at the 5.

If he pulls this off, then Jeff Green will never, hopefully, have to play the 4 ever again. He can just keep Pierce really, really, really rested.

  • Another undersized Celtic...
I wouldn't assume DA is done dealing yet. He and Doc have reiterated that we need size and we still have a Jeff Green and some draft picks to put into play. I wouldn't assume we'll be playing undersized C's all season, especially now that Chandler is in the East.

KG will play 4 on offense and some of new guys will play 5 or down low on offense.  On D it will depend on the matchups and who is most advantageous to us.
