Encouraging comment by doc on JJJ.

He said that if he had to compare him to a player, his potential is Horace Grant. He said that he was a dead-eye shot who could rebound and run the floor, and that the rebounding is the one skill that almost always translates from college ball.

Hope he gives him some playing time to grow.

for those of us outside New England area, Thank you for the updates.

It wouldn't surprise JJJ supplants Bass, and becomes KG's backup. Ainge must be thanking his lucky stars JJJ dropped in the draft.

Not only was JJJ the Big 10 Player of the Year, he was also the Big 10 DPOY. Hope for the future, and I like your thinking about this year!

JJ was a mediocre rebounder in college.  Not sure what Doc's expecting on that front.

He averaged 9 his senior year (along with 20 points and 3 blocks) and 15 rebounds per game on the big stage of the NCAAs. That's a little better than mediocre.

Other things Doc said (from memory at this point)

-Likes how Bass plays with intensity and called him a "deadly shooter" with his elbow shots

-Wants Jeff Green to play 3 and 4...at the 4 he wants him to use his quickness and ability to space the floor

-Thought Avery Bradley will do better this season because on more experience + not being injured in camp

LOVE that Horace Grant comparison.  If he can play at that level, this is an absolute steal.  (Just no goofy goggles, please). :)

That's absurd.  The Rec Specs are legendary.

Did you get the feeling when he said this that the dot...dot...dot...after the statement in Doc's mind, especially since Doc said "every night" when talking about the intensity was something like "unlike Glen" and "deadly shooter" was followed by "unlike Glen"? I did.

Just wondering how training camp has been going and would love a summary of what they've had to say and shown so far.
