Another question here, can we assign Brown and Moore to the D-League? That would keep them on the roster but free up two spots. Plus Dalembert is still available, should we go at him for the Mini-MLE?

D League assignments count towards your roster capacity.

Sending someone to the DLeague doesn't free up spots unless you give up your rights to the player.

Okay thanks. Any possibility Danny is trying to get Dalembert or another center with the mini-MLE? I'm surprised we still have it to fill out our last roster spot.

Strategy-wise, it seemed like a fairly interesting question. If you can only sign 1 FA to the mini mle and the rest to the vet min, what's the best approach? Do you first sign the best player you can get with the mle and then fill out your roster? Do you sign as many players as you can to the vet min, saving the mle for someone who you want who won't take the min? Apparently Ainge went with the latter.

I wonder how much money the other contending teams have. If they all spend their money, maybe you hold onto it to see if any vets get bought out in the spring or if anyone comes over from europe/china.

Doc just now on Training Camp Live on Comcast said that there were a lot of good players still left out there (and there are:Rip, Jrich, Michael Redd, Mr. Big Shot, etc.).

It sounded like they were going with the BPA, regardless of position.

PG) Rondo, Dooling, Bradley
SG) Ray, Marquis, Moore
SF) Pierce, Green, (Maybe Gilbert Brown)
PF) KG, Bass, JJJ
C) JO, Wilcox

So if we do end up signing Gilbert Brown, we have one spot left on the roster, and we haven't used the Mini-MLE. What do we need left? Another shooter would be great but so would someone like Aaron Gray and Pryzbilla. Now for my real question..

Has anyone heard anything about Delonte?? Far as I know Danny hasn't even contacted him.

whoa....when i looked at the names at the pg and sg spots, i thought "after ray, do they have anyone who can shoot the ball worth a darn?" after ray, that backcourt would be really challenged to put a significant number of points.

i hope delonte comes back to the celtics and can shoot the ball well.

Neither JaJuan nor Moore have been officially signed yet.

I think it's safe to say that, as a first rounder with a guaranteed contract, Johnson will be with the team this season.

I wonder if Ainge might convince Moore's agent that he would be better served playing overseas, so the Celtics can retain his rights, and devote his roster spot to a free agent.

yeah, im concerned about that as well.  also, id rather not have to depend on marquis as our primary sg backup, since he's no injury prone.  we know he'll most likely miss at least 15-20 games.  snagging a player like michael redd would be great, if he has anything left.

whichever of j-rich and rip doesn't go to the bulls might be willing to take the mini-MLE for a sixth man type role here.  it would be great to have a really quality backup SG who can play 20 minutes a night and allow Ray to really take it easy.  Ray should not play over 30 minutes a night this season.

as for a backup big, i think wilcox / bass are capable guys, and with the minimum we can probably still get a player like troy murphy, fesenko, or possibly kwame (though somebody will probably overpay kwame).

i think the Celtics have big plans for Avery Bradley this year. The Keyon Dooling trade has a lot to do with moving Bradley to the 2.  He is their best pure scorer off the bench although not proven yet. Be on the lookout for Avery Bradley this year.

Been thinking the same thing, Change.

Also, on the Training Camp Live Comcast telecast, either Tommy or Donny or Doc specifically mentioned the Dooling/Bradley pairing where Dooling does the ball-handling chores and AB palys the 2.

In this pairing, AB can either pressure the pg coming up court or defend the 2. Doc refereed to AB's defense again as NBA ready. Looking forward to all this stuff!!! (I think that I have used more exclamation points today than in the past 5 months. Getting real excited about this season.)

Don't know where everyone thinks we are getting the money to sign Aaron Gray.

Simmons predicts he's going to command around $5M annually in this inflated market.

I am expecting A.Gray to get closer to $2.5 to $3 million per annum.

I was hoping we'd use the MMLE on him.  If we really complete this rumored David West deal we'll REALLY need a center.

Moore have been officially signed yet.

I think Moore signed this morning or will be getting one fast.

This isn't the NFL there is rookie payscale.   It is not like they will hold out for more money.  Their pay is preslotted.

Its unfortunate, but I think Delonte wants some money. I could see him going to the Mavs or Lakers, but thats about it. Otherwise, he will catch on with some other team wher ehe will fade into the sunset.
