Bass is a black hole. Shoots it all the time. He will be a good backup though. Wouldn't want to see him run with the starters with that selfish mentality, but I do like him off the bench.
Doesn't sound all that different than Glen Davis, Davis is a better passer when he tries however.

yep..we watch davis take jump shot after jump shot last year

...and getting farther and farther away from the basket.  It was frustrating to watch, to say the least.

Reading the Orlando Pinstriped Post blog, the comments seem to be favorable towards trading "No Pass" Bass and Big Baby seems to be on a list of players recommended by Dwight Howard for the Magic to target.
Does this mean that Howard wants to come to Boston? ;D
We should have locked up Davis, that was the key to getting Howard. Oh noes! :-D

this just seems like a lateral move to me. It's pretty much apples for apples. Too bad we couldn't pull off a Baby for Thad Young.

It's certainly not a lateral move offensively.  Consider, that if Bass had taken the same amount of shots and free throw attempts as Baby last year (not far fetched at all: their per minute rates are very similar), based on Bass's shooting %s, he would have averaged 13.4ppg to Baby's 11.7ppg.  That's a pretty big offensive upgrade in my eyes.

2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

It really is a lateral move but BBD clearly wore out his welcome. No question they would have liked BBD back without the BS that came with him. So now you get a new guy with a history of BS, but you have that hope that he can be different in Boston whereas you knew BBD wouldn't be. In the end I guess they would rather see Bass's face then Baby's face in the complex.

bass is a LEGIT PF..while baby was so undersized...bass is a much better finisher and shooter without baby's ego. upgrade IMO
Bass is smaller than Davis. He measured at 6'6.25 barefoot 6'7.25 with shoes on.

but he can jump..which davis could not

BBD to Orlando for Brandon Bass is "a done deal" now. Story should be up shortly.
Maybe, but I don't see how that makes him much more "prototypical" than Davis, who could carve out space under the basket, for example.

davis had an ego and pouted...he was moving further out to shoot and really didn't under the rim..think bass is more athletic and can play above the rim more than davis (who really struggled at times finishing around the rim

Shush. Otis Smith might wake up and ask David Stern to block the trade.

Someone on the forums made a good point about salaries: Davis probably wants $6-7M per, but Bass is due only $4.25M, so Orlando would have to throw in someone else to make the trade work. Looking at the Magic's roster, two guys make sense for Boston: Ryan Anderson and Daniel Orton. Anderson is a 6-10, 240-pound PF, only 23, averaged 10.6 points and 5.5 rebounds last year, and is due only $2.2M. Orton is a 6-10, 255-pound PF, only 21, played in the D-League last season, and due only $1.1M. Thoughts?

You can trade salary for 150% now.

So 4.25 * 1.5 = 6.375 million

So unless his first year salary is more than that it works.

Not understanding all the excitement about this trade, or even people thinking bass is a better player
baby had his ups and downs and played horrible in last years playoffs, but he had clutch moments for us too..
Bass is a scrub
