Let's hear your ideas.  Where is the best landing spot for Chauncey Billups?

The Blazers could use a quality PG, particularly one with deep playoff experience.  Personally, I'd love to see him go there for a couple years.

If CP3 isn't allowed to the Lakers then the Lakers. Otherwise the Heat. In LA he has a similar roster to the one he played with in Detroit. LA is going to be more of a half court team then the Heat will be. Billups isn't and never really was made to play high paced hoops for 40 + minutes.

Los Angeles Lakers
  • Title contender
  • Minutes = they need a new starting PG and can give Chauncey 32-35mpg
  • Great Fit = Chauncey's shooting ability is a great fit alongside a ball-dominant wing like Kobe Bryant and in an inside-out offense with two low post scorers in Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum. Chauncey would be an excellent complement to their main guys.
  • Money = LA still has their mini-MLE unlike Miami.

Yeah Lakers would seem to be the best fit, although I would love to see him on the Blazers. I don't think he would want to play behind Felton at this point in his career.
Yes Sir,

LA or Miami seem to be the obvious choices.

Miami: Cruch time line up of Billups/Wade/Battier/LeBro/? is just silly and masks Lebron's habit of dipping away from the spotlight.

Silly? Or Scary?

My first thought was Miami, but I'm hoping he'll go West....

Don't the Blazers have a pretty high quality PG?  Actually he's probably about equal value at this point in Chauncey's career (maybe slight edge to Billups for consistency/shooting but less alley-oops to LMA and Wallace)
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Well...if we do continue our attempts to trade Rondo, and don't ask for a PG in return, I would say...

Boston

Although years ago, he played here before. He and KG are good friends. Would play for Doc. Playing for the C's gives him the opportunity for sweet revenge on NY.

Yeah, I'd say LA too.

I like your thoughts too Eddie; I hadn't considered that yet.  Trading Rondo for a non-PG becomes a very possible option to explore now if Billups has any interest in playing with us.  I'd think that he would; he is of the Paul/Ray/KG generation and has probably played in many all-star games with them, etc.  I can't recall any bad blood existing there.

If we could S&T Rondo for Chandler/Nene + a draft pick and also get Billups I'd be extremely happy.  Wonder if Chandler or Nene would have any interest in that.  Is Chandler definitely off the market yet?

Billups/Delonte/Dooling
Ray/Marquis/Delonte
Pierce/Green
KG/Baby/Johnson
Nene-Chandler/JO

This is a contending team, at least for 1 more season.  Very good defensive and almost no offensive liabilities.

Or you could trade Rondo to Indy for Hibbert and a couple of picks. Hibbert is owed less than 4M next year, which gives us more cap space this summer. Plus, the trade gives us a nice trade exception.

I think Hibbert becomes a monster next to KG.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
He'd be a great fit in LA. Its like someone took Derek Fisher, and said, 'No. Lets make him way way better, but with the same overall skillset.'
