A sad day in the NBA

He was one of the best 2 guards in the League IMO

He was truly a Blazer Legend and I would retire his jersey number asap.

He was Clutch in the 4th quarter and brought the good days back to Portland

Its a sad day man, real sad

You know who's really screwed in all this? Trailbalzers fans. To have this happen to both Roy and Oden is just devastating. It's not quite Len Bias, but to lose guys in their prime like this always wondering what if isn't too far off. A half decade down the drain.  Imagine if this happened to us. Imagine if we had drafted Tim Duncan and he pulls an Oden. And then Paul Pierce did too.

It's giving me a tummy ache

Very sad.

CP3 is actually one surgery away from being in the same place as Roy.

So, I read he is going to get his money even if he retires. A silver lining if he's looking for one. Either way, NBA and the fans lose a great guy. Sad.

He gets his money and after being on the cap for one more year he comes off it.

Unless Brandon Roy attempts to come back, ala Darius Miles.

From what I've read, he will get whatever he is owed on his contract and his salary will not count against Portland's cap after a year.

  • Thanks Red
When Roy was healthy (which was rare), he could do some amazing things. He would have been a bonafide superstar if his knees held up.

I recall staying up late late on many Friday nights to catch the west coast ESPN game, JUST to see that guy perform, this is so sad.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Sad to hear hope he can find other things in life to keep him happy. Maybe a career with espn, coach, or some other way to stay involved with sports or the league. It's really too bad he seemed like one of those hardworking role model type of guys.

score one for Danny Ainge.  He didn't want anything to do with Brandon Roy's health during the draft.

CP3 is actually one surgery away from being in the same place as Roy.

http://www.celticstown.com/2011/12/01/chris-pauls-knee-scares-boston-celtics/

By this arguement, Paul Pierce (who likely had the same surgery as CP in 2008) is also "one surgery away".  Brandon Roy has NO meniscus between his knees leaving it bone on bone.  There's a huge difference between that, and have a piece (which could be tiny) removed, leaving both knees with cushion remaining between the bones.  Honestly, theres very few veteran players in the league who have never had arthroscopic surgery done on some joint at some time.  Every player is just 1 surgery away from the end.
