there would be no true leader on that basketball team(hornets). they say so much how this is a business. well from a business standpoint it would be hard to find an owner for that team.

and billups would not join that team.

He's all wet on this one.  This is a tiny-market team that they're trying to sell.  Loading up with big contracts is the last thing NO needs.

I totally agree, but letting superstars leave for nothing isn't great either

You couldn't sell them with Chris Paul, why not try to sell the franchise with a constructed team capable of generating playoff revenue?

How good would that New Orleans Hornets team be if they managed to sign Chauncey Billups?

Chauncey Billups and Kevin Martin in the backcourt. Ariza doing the dirty work on the wing. A very strong big man rotation with Scola, Odom and Okafor. A pair of high quality backup PGs in Jarrett Jack and Goran Dragic.

That team wouldn't be too far off being a contender.

I don't agree. Not far off a contender?
They would be swimming in mediocrity for 5 years.
They'd never get past the Lakers, Mavs, Thunder or Grizzlies.
A bunch of guys who are a bit past their prime and Kevin Martin jacking up more shots than Iverson each game.

I mean if you want to make sure you keep ticket holders next year I guess you have to say yes, but the Hornets will suck just as much as they do right now and continue to lose money, and eventually relocate to Seattle or some other place.

Can't see how this core goes anywhere but a first round exit, maybe 2nd round if they shot well.

Yeah, this is how I feel.  Very mediocre team.  And you haven't even mentioned the teams in the East that this team couldn't touch.
2020 CelticsStrong All-2000s Draft -- Utah Jazz

Finals Starters:  Jason Kidd - Reggie Miller - PJ Tucker - Al Horford - Shaq
Bench:  Rajon Rondo - Trae Young - Marcus Smart - Jaylen Brown -  Peja Stojakovic - Jamal Mashburn - Carlos Boozer - Tristan Thompson - Mehmet Okur

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

because longterm its not viable. for a reeling franchise taking on these huge contracts makes little sense: Scola $40mil, Kevin Martin $25mi, and Odom $9mil. NOH will forever be stuck in mediocrity. 35-40 wins a season does little for the franchise. Like the Utah Jazz, Hornets must rebuild through the draft.
