He plays out his contract and becomes an unrestricted FA. We would be the only major market team that could offer him a max deal.  We could swing a trade involving Rondo to bring in a top complementary player/scorer, and would still have Pierce. Who knows, maybe could still have KG and Ray off the bench.

Thank you, David.

Any ideas on who the C's might be able to trade Rondo for?

No, but come next off season, there is bound to be several suitors. He is a top 5 PG in the NBA.

Ain't happening...He is NOT coming to Boston via free agency hence the reason why DA is ratchin up all sorts of scenarios where we can RENT CP3 because as a free agent, he just ain't coming here.

Lets just stop fantasizing about him and move on and be glad we have a PG almost as good as him but without the balky knees.

This actually crossed my mind as well.  Remember, you'll only be able to sign him if you have space.  The OP is correct that as of now, only the celts will have space among the big market teams.  Think about it.  Would Paul choose Sacramento or Boston?

If he stays in NO, you better believe the celts will be a player with a chance.

my thoughts exactly, say we get CP3 and Dwight doesnt sign an extension with Orlando or wherever he signs with

we can trade Rondo for some good players

Yeah the Clips would be his best destination...

I actually think the Clippers are going to take a big step this year...that team will look very appealing to Paul.

Trading him here and courting him for a full season was the only way to get CP3 here IMO...

I thought the fact NOH wouldnt take him in any of the 9 scenarios Ainge gave them said otherwise.. Like the fact no one outside of Boston considers him a top 5 point guard.

The reasons for other teams view about this is up in the air but i think its been made pretty clear there's very little interest in a pg that cant shoot free throws or be asked to take anything other than layups. Also is known to be stubborn and considered hard to coach.

To me the fact NOH in no way wanted any part of Rondo tells me a lotabout this kid and his character. I know the publicity was bad after the team USA fiasco but i didnt know the whole league views him this poorly.
