Anyhow regardless of the dead Hornets trade, I want to see Danny Ainge try to trade us into the lotery now more than ever, we have no place but to go through the draft.

1: Rondo for Mo Williams and the Minny pick
2: Rondo,Bradley,JO for Kaman and the Minny pick
3: Allen to the Bucks for Livingston,Delfino and their 2013 1st
4: KG to the Hawks for Josh Smith
5: Combo of Allen and KG or Green for Smith and Marvin Williams

I hope we get the Minny pick and trade with the Hawks for Josh Smith for starters.
New Roster:

#1
Mo Williams/Dooling
Pierce
Williams
JSmoove
Gray

#2
Mo Williams/Dooling
Pierce/Livingston
Williams/Delfino
JSmoove
Gray

#3
Dooling
Pierce
Williams
JSmoove
Kaman

People think we're going to drop into the lottery, pick up an all-star or two along with a franchise player and be contenders again within 5 years. Someone should check with the Clippers, Kings, or maybe the Bulls how that can work out.

it's true that it's not guaranteed.  it could take 3 years or it could take 12.  there's a lot of luck involved.

but every year you wait to start the rebuilding process, you're keeping your team on a flat or inevitably downward trajectory.  being a middle of the road also-ran without young lottery picks just puts you in a self-perpetuating cycle of mediocrity.

at some point, this team will have to hit bottom before it can start going back up towards the top of the league.  i can totally understand the desire to get the "rock bottom" part over with sooner rather than later, since yet another second round exit doesn't mean much in the big scheme of things.

we've gotten our banner 17, and it doesn't look like banner 18 is coming with this group, not with the competition they have in the east now (knicks, nets, heat will all be tough from this year on, not to mention the bulls).  we could make this year a nice, sentimental farewell tour for the big 3, or we could start compiling assets for the rebuilding process immediately.

still, i don't think the big 3 have much value at this point, and it would not play well with the fan base to totally blow the team up before they've stopped being at all competitive.  so i think we'll wait to truly rebuild until next summer when kg, ray, and JO finish their contracts.

i'd love to see a trade that gave us a chance to be more competitive this season and also set us up to enter the rebuilding phase as quickly as possible, though.  that's what the cp3 trade would have done, while also giving us a shot at retaining a superstar long term.  ive advocated for a rondo + green for nash + gortat trade, or something like it, but i doubt we'll see that happen.

i think this season is more or less the status quo, and then a serious retool next summer.  i can't say that i know what danny will do, however.  he doesn't seem like the type who's interested in overseeing a bad team for any extended period of time.  he had enough of that earlier in his tenure as the GM.

The trade proposals I offered are not unrealistic, Clippers get the best PG possible after CP. They're going to need a better PG than Bledsoe and they don't have to pay Mo Williams's the next year, either through amnesty or keeping him on their roster, Rondo is locked up for 4 years.

Ray Allen retires with the team that drafted him and could sign a 2 year extension with the Bucks, they give up nothing for a HoF.

Or KG and Ray Allen for Smith, or Green and KG instead of Allen for Smith and Marvin Williams. How is that bad for the Hawks ?

Completely agree with trading into the lottery- especially with next years draft, I would love to see us get two picks in the lottery. I feel like that is a really strong option for rebuilding.
Someone mentioned trading Rondo to phoenix for Nash and Gartot. Man I mean ya'll must really hate Rondo if you wanna trade him for a 38 year old former superstar. I don't know what he did to alienate so many people.

clippers were reluctant to give up that minny pick for chris paul.  im skeptical they'd even consider giving it up for rondo.

the idea is not that steve nash is better than rondo at this point; rather, he is still quite good right now and his deal expires at the end of this season, just like ray's, kg's, and JO's.  acquiring steve nash would set us up to be in rebuilding mode immediately after this season, and we could perhaps get a pick from the suns which would probably be in the late lottery.  gortat is also a very solid defensive center on a great value contract.  im actually not sure the suns would be willing to consider parting with him.

worth exploring a trade with the Clippers, they were reluctant about giving up Gordon more than the pick.

I don't think we should blow up the team, but if we do...
1) Anthony Davis. (KG) Will revolutionize the game.
2) Jeremy Lamb. (Ray Allen) Same physical tools.  Hopefully can develop the discipline.
3) Jared Sullinger (Zach Randolph) First name 20 last name 10.
4) Andre Drummond (Amare Stoudemire) better defense.
5) Harison Barnes (Lebron James) Uber-talented but doesn't have "it."
6. Austin Rivers (Kobe Bryant) Less athletic.
7. Terrence Jones (Paul Pierce) Bigger with less IQ and finesse.
I haven't seen Perry Jones.  Doron Lamb, Marquis Teague, James Mcadoo are solid too.
8. Michael Kidd Gilchrist (Rondo) if Rondo was a swing man.

This is it right here, I'm not for trading all of our players for lotto tickets. For every superstar that is drafted, you have 10 can't miss players who miss royally. I'm in no rush to go back to the young exciting late 90's Celtics that won 20+ games but projected well to C's fans. This is an issue that has rubbed me the wrong way for awhile, ever since 2008 you have people wanting to rebuild. The Celtics spent 20 years rebuilding and look where it got them. It didn't get bad until the mid to late 90's, but out of those early picks the Celtics got Billups (traded) Ron Mercer (Bust) Antoine Walker  (role player), Kedrick Brown and Jerome Moiso (yeah...) to name a few.

Nothing is assured, the Celtics are still contenders this year, a few tweaks here and there and they can still win.

Yup...plus with our luck, Minny would turn into a powerhouse this season.

Rubio for MVP, Kevin Love averages 30 and 20...I can see it now.

Andre Drummond's value might drop since Anthony Davis is outshining him and he has been shadowed by Lamb and Shabbaz

I little over the top, Davis will be really good but not KG level. Rivers isnt kobe at all but allstar talent (maybe brandon roy),Drummon is not the athlete amare is, For that matter Barnes is 1/2 the athlete lebron is he in fact is marvin williams 2.0, and with lamb you cant develop rays discipline.

That being said this is a great draft full of potential allstars and posibly a couple franchise level players
