  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I don't like the way this is panning out.

I'm thinking that Dwight is going to push to be traded to the Lakers for Bynum now.

What is there to stop him from doing this and can he make just as much money being sign+traded to LA now or is it better that he plays out the season then walks?

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

If I'm Orlando I tell him to screw himself. If he wants to play for the Lakers, he can sign for 3 million a year. Why should I (as Orlando's front office) trade him for an injury prone, never met his potential in 6 years Center and bad deals from the Lakers?

Would ORL accept a straight up swap of Bynum for Howard? I doubt it.

LA needs to give more, and there's not much left in the cupboard.

This is the last straw for me, personally.  If Howard goes to LA for Odom and Bynum or whatever they have left Im done.  Absolutely done with this stupid league where the players dictate everything

With Brooke Lopez and NJ picks still dangling, how could this possibly happen?

I am not a conspiracy theorist and DH does not have the power to make his team take a worse deal just because he wants it.  Besides, I think Dwight would be very happy being teamed with DW in Brooklyn.

Frankly, I think the CP trade should motivate Orlando to trade DH now for the best offer -- I think they are assured to lose him for nothing if they don't act.

I don't see why Howard would get traded to the Lakers unless the NBA really and truly is rigged in the Lakers' favor.

Howard has no leverage to force his way to the Lakers since he wouldn't be able to sign there in free agency anyway.  The Magic have to be able to get a better package for Dwight Howard than Bynum and whoever else the Lakers would offer.

It almost makes you wish the system that existed in the 60s and 70s were the guys like Red controlled player fates. These super-teams are started to get on my nerves. Everybody wants to team up with their "best" friends and it is annoying. This is a competition not the Justice League.

Yes, but Howard can sign elsewhere.

He can give Orlando the option of getting Andrew Bynum or getting nothing at all.

Andrew Bynum > nothing

I think Orlando will take their time before deciding what to do with Dwight Howard.

I am expecting them to play this out up until the trade deadline.

  • GOT IT!!!
I would not be shocked in the slightest if Howard pulls the same thing Melo did last season. The Magic will probably fold because I think Howard would take less money to end up in LA.

Don't worry, they can find some idiot GM to help them out.  Maybe David Kahn will trade Orlando Kevin Love and Derrick Williams in return for Derek Fisher and a used headband.

Agreed. I think the endgame is essentially clear. Howard will end up with the Lakers. It's just a matter of how.

Howard will just send out word he won't re-sign with anyone but L.A. which will dampen offers from anyone but the Lakers.

Orlando may or may not get anything for him, but like with LeBron, Bosh, Melo, etc... Howard will go where he wants.
