  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.

Compare them please? They have similar games.

I would put Chris Paul above, because of his jumper/defense, but Kevin Johnson could score quite a bit. They have similar passing games, and I'd love to see a comparison from you guys.

Personally, i dont really see them as being similar.
I always saw KJ as the "Steve Francis" of the 90's or the Steve Franics before Steve Franics.
Kevin Johnson to me was in the mold of steve francis with a little less flash and flair.

Stat wise there are similarities, but game and style of play, I see KJ more closely aligned with Steve Francis than CP3.

Chris Paul to me is more in the mold of Isaiah Thomas.

And you really dont here a lot of conversations comparing Kevin Johnson and Zeke, they were two different types of great point guards.

Alright I'm through,  :D

In defense of KJ, he did play when players were allowed to hand check an be more physical. In his prime he could get to the bucket at will. Imagine if he played in todays era. Paul is a better all around player, but Kevin was pretty darn good.

KJ beat the Lakers in the playoffs before Barkley came when Magic was at his peak.  He usually outplayed John Stockton.

Not to sound like an old timer but KJ has lost a lot of respect over time due to his injuries.  Paul is amazing but hasn't done a lot in the playoffs and also hasn't proven yet that he won't be the next "could have" point guard whose career was derailed by injuries.

We have no proof that he won't be the next Steve Francis, Baron Davis, Penny Hardaway or Stephon Marbury.  Guys who became shells of themselves without their explosiveness.

his speed was amazing
I actually think Johnson is sort of forgotten, played in the west with magic & stockton two of the best pg ever but did a really good job in that time.

If you want to compare modern point guards with point guards from that era you need to have seen them play (not saying you did or didn't) and then imagine the pg in question (KJ in this case) in a league where hand checking isn't allowed.

KJ played nothing at all like Steve Francis IMO. He was a scoring point guard who could also pass, run the offense and push the pace. Francis really couldn't run the team like a point guard should. He was also a selfish one on one player who dribbled the **** out of the ball.

Its hard to compare KJ to someone but I guess a little like Tony Parker but a much better shooter and passer. If it weren't for his injuries he would definitely be a hall of famer and considered one of the top PG of all time.
