I think so.

I'll depend on two things:

1) The health of the starters.

2) The surrounding cast.

I personally think that 1 is more important than 2.  I think they need descent players, but I think they could get by with West, BBD, and then just mediocre bench players (like no Battier, Jefferson, Hill, etc.).  And I'm talking about guys like Reggie Evans, Mike Dunleavy Jr., Troy Murphy, etc.  But the real key is that the starting 5 is healthy.  I feel confident that they can be the best starting 5 in basketball, and that can win games in 4th quarters.

I will take another route.  With CP3, we'd be close to a title, no question.  But it isn't just about that.  If we trade for CP3, I see no scenerio under which he leaves.  I think DA feels the same.

So not only would we have a better shot this year, CP3 makes us stronger for years to come.

I say we have enough to get by the Bulls right now without Paul, so with Paul, obviously yes.

The Heat though? Tough I think either way, especially because the Heat will add some pieces.

The only good news is that the Heat superstars still aren't great shooters (Bosh might actually be the most consistent jump shooter).  So I think they're still going to have space issues and it's still going to be tougher for them to play off of each other.

If Paul comes, the C's will have 4 knock down shooters (plus JO, who actually has a nice midrange game).  The spacing that creates and the possibility for anyone to get involved on the offense on any given play could make the difference.

Whether or not the Celtics acquire Chris Paul, unless the team has an utter failure in assembling a decent bench, Boston has enough to get by the Heat/Bulls, but probably not enough to be considered the favorite to do so.

I can live with the team being good enough that you can't write them off as legitimate championship contenders, but not being good enough to be seen on paper as more likely to win than Miami or Chicago.  I don't really have much sympathy for fans who are unhappy unless the team is good enough to be seen as co-favorites through green-colored glasses.

I agree with your first sentiment.  We have enough right now with our big four to be a legitimate contender if we can piece together a relatively healthy front line.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
Nope.

I think CP3 is more injury prone than Rondo.

That means Wade will dislocate BOTH of Paul's elbows instead of just one!
I like Marcus Smart
