I think depending on how we fill the bench/rest of the team we are a pretty strong contender to knock either or both of those teams out.

youve still got the big 3 who are effective, and youve got practically a top 5 player in the NBA at PG which is miami's weakness..and someone who can go ISO mode and make shots if the big 3 go cold in the 4th quarter.

and against the bulls, id say PP/RA/KG are still better at their respective positions than who the bulls can get.

  • Rondo = Good
i think if we get cp3, a lot would depend on the supporting cast we'd put together (we'd have fewer than 6 players).  still, i think as long as the big 3 stayed healthy we'd have a chance against anybody.  i don't think we'd be favorites, but we'd have a good shot.

Obviously no sure thing, but yes I do think they could get by those two teams. I do not feel the same way w/ Rondo.

+1. Add in Okafor and I think it's a done deal if everyone stays healthy.

If we are getting paul for a partial season in which he says he won't sign extension not only do we need to get by chicago & miami we would HAVE to win the championship to make it worth while as the team would be blown up and paul would walk and no upper level free agents would be coming our way

If we had healthy season since KG & Ray joined we would be in the finals each year and won 2 championships.

I was thinking the same thing. With CP3 is there a championship at the end of the year??

Depends on who you have to go threw. If some how the C's get luck and the Bulls and Heat battle in the simis and the Bulls win. I think that the C's can match up well with the Bulls. You can wash out the point guards and I think as long as the supporting cast is good, witch can be the best in the leauge if things fall right, they beat them in 6 and nobody in the west really can handle this team.

But if they have to take on the Heat. And you don't get some solid centers in FA, and a solid bench they can't win. Look at last year. With a near 40 year old Shaq and just coming back from injury Perk, they owned them in the reg season. No Shaq No Perk, no bench they got smoked.

Thats how Dallas beat them. Sure Dirk was insane, but they had bigs to keep Miami from getting to the hoop. They mad them a jump shooting team. And thats how you beat the Heat, make them a jump shooting team and have to play half court ball they can win.

So you'd almost be better getting Al Jefferson and then maybe a Prinse and Richardson, West, an other solid center if you really want to win this year. I don't think Renting out Paul for a year gets you a ring if you don't get a couple good solid centers, not great, but solid to keep Lebron and Wade from driving to the hoop. Don't have to worry about Bosh KG has him.

Rumor though has BBD for David West. Then if you got CP3 for Rondo and Green. Sign Richardson,Price or Rich Jefferson, and then maybe bring in Gray, and Delonte West for back up point and D'ing up Wade at times you do have a shot. But it has to be [dang] near perfect to beat the Heat.

    Paul/West
    Aleen/Richarson
    Peirce/Prince,Battier,Jefferson
    KG/JJJ/West
Gray/Jo trade JO for some thing else???

I don't necessarily think that's true. I think it's a pro's / cons situation, and the best case scenario outweighs the worst.

I'm wondering if Danny would see Rondo staying on the Celtics being like Iggy on the 6ers. The amount they're being paid is justifiable, but as 'the guy' it ends up feeling like their contract is holding the team back.

sure if ainge can make other trades to address issues maybe but there is no preseason, we are going to go from a pg who knows are system (off&def) perfect to someone who has to learn on fly with as doc pointed out, little practices this season
we need a center, rebounding pf, lots of pieces if new to get acclimated to team
more than a few guys have had a hard time learning the celtics defense
bad feeling

i think iggy on the sixers is a really good analogy for what rondo would be like on a rebuilding team.

I think we could have beat them last year if Rondo didn't get hurt.  It changed the series, it would have been tough though.  With CP3 we'd plaster them I'd wager.  They would have to play D honest which would help the Big Three and they'd at a distinct disadvantage at the one hole.
