Was an interesting topic on ESPN's first take. Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless, whose back and forths are often hilarious, debated the topic. Skip said that if he were Tyson it would be best for his legacy to take less money and sign with the Heat to put them over the top as title contenders. Stephen A. thought it would be best for Tyson to stay in Dallas because he needs to defend his crown.

Personally, i agree with Stephen A. Smith, which i don't do often. Tyson Chandler is a guy who has been bouncing around the NBA ever since he was drafted, he finally finds a team where he fits in perfectly, wins a championship and now he's thinking about bailing? That's absurd to me. Brendan Haywood is an alright player but he does not put the Mavericks over the top as title contenders like Chandler does. Chandler should feel like he owes it to Dirk, to Kidd, to Terry to win it all again. Now, i don't know what the whole situation is with him and Mark Cuban but if i'm Tyson Chandler my first choice above all is to sign a one year deal with the Mavs to try to win it all again and then test the market in 2012.

If Chandler signs with Miami (Which is pure speculation) and that team can stay healthy then the Celtics would be in lots of trouble.

You find screaming, attention grabbers who often don't watch the games or bother to do any research because they always take an extreme opinion and are loud about it, hilarious? You lost me right there......

Chandler should take the biggest contract he can find as this is likely his last one, and then hopefully use it wisely to set himself up for the rest of his life. If he takes a pay cut to stay with Dallas that makes sense to me, but only a modest one. Going to Miami would require a massive paycut however and isn't a realistic option.

I wouldn't be willing to bet that a contract Tyson Chandler signs at 29 years old will be the last one he signs in the NBA unless some bonehead owner inks him to an 8 year deal.

i would re-sign with the Mavericks unless i could get a lot more money on another team that can still contend for a title .

I wouldn't go to Golden State, that's for sure.

I would stay in Dallas, they're his best fit without taking a massive pay cut. Good chance to win and you just won a ring there, gotta go for the repeat.

It'll be the last big contract he signs, he'll be 34-35 when it expires and that means he'll be getting much smaller short term deals.

If his body holds up and he can still play then.

When he is 34-35 is when he should settle for less money to play on a team like the Heat.

Tough to say without knowing what options are on the table, but I think the Clippers would be an ideal fit for you.

If I were Tyson Chandler I'd sign with the Boston Celtics for whatever they would pay me

If I were TC, I would take less to sign with Miami. He has already make a bundle, unless of course he spent it already. That way I could still retire with a lot of cash and multiple rings.

After the 09/10 season, TC was an after thought in the NBA. The Thunder canceled a trade for him. His previous two seasons were a combined washout. He was nowhere. Now after a big year in Dallas and his first ring, he is a premier FA.

If TC spends 4 years in Miami as the defensive backbone of a team that wins 2 or 3 rings, he would be a borderline HOF'r.

In this case it comes down to 'what's more important to him',$$$$ or legacy.

For me, I'll take the mid-level and 3 more rings.

Wow. Skip Bayless thinks about Tyson Chandler's NBA legacy. I wonder if he thinks about other guy's legacies too.  You know. Like um..Erik Dampier's legacy and Joel Pryzbilla's and Samuel Dalembert's.

These guys really need to consider their legacies at all times you know

Can you imagine that conversation with the wife.

Wife: No no noooo.  You're taking the extra millions and we are staying here in Dallas.

Tyson: But honey.  My legacy!

Kids: We like it here in Dallas dad.

Tyson: Nobody is thinking about my legacy! Only Skip Bayless is thinking about it. Skip Bayless is the only one who gets me!

I think First and Ten has some strange writers and they don't like Skip a lot and it's gotten into a daily routine of "You want me to say what?"  And that makes them annoyed with him so they give him worse stuff to say. Then he says it annoying and the downward spiral continues.  They probably feel he owes them something for all the work they've done on Tebow for him.

If I were Tyson Chandler I would chase the money because you can't live off your legacy 20 years after you retire(unless your initials are M.J.)
