  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
What is the one thing that you as a Celtics fan, wish you could go back and change or do differently. Anything, a critical trade, drafting of a player, game decision...anything.

For me it's the death of Len Bias and Reggie Lewis (probably this one for a lot of fans). It's not just about the heartbreak of losing two people like that in a community...that part is obviously devastating. But from a basketball point of view,
I just wonder how many banners the Celtics would have and how much happiness and enjoyment that the Celtics missed out on for the years following these tragedies.
We could be looking at another 3-5 banners in theory.
Just thinking about that situation makes me so sad.

Anything goes here...don't be shy. Hell, even though I hate arguing with people about it, you're even allowed to say 'what if the Celtics hadn't traded Perkins?' hehe.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

LEN BIAS.

That.

We're talking 1 or 2 more banners for Boston and 1 or 2 less Banners for LA.

To me the death of Bias is by far the biggest.

There are some others in a different direction. What if Red hadn't waited a year for Bird, which is almost unheard of.

What if Pitino didn't destroy the team?  Or if they didn't hire him?

What if Pitino had landed Duncan and Van Horn, as he thought he might, and put them with Toine?

What if we landed Oden or Durant?

Reggie Lewis is also a big one.

What if Havlicek had held on just a leetle longer to play with Bird

What if Baby hadn't broken his hand?  Good or bad?

What if Perk wasn't traded?

What if KG's knee wasn't hurt?

What if Paul Pierce's face hadn't gotten stabbed? DId it scare him straight?

What if we hadn't been able to get Rondo so late in the draft for so little?

Len Bias absolutely.  He was supposed to be Jordan's foil(like Bird to Magic).  He was that good and he was coming to a team that was already consistent title contender.

The late 80's and early 90's might have looked a whole lot different if Len Bias had ever played in Green.

What if we got Duncan in the draft?

What if we didn't trade away Joe Johnson or Chauncey Billups

What if St Louis wasn't so concerned with racial issues and refused to trade Bill Russell to us?  How many banners do we have?  Is Red still a legend?

What if Perk landed a little bit softer in Game 6 of 2010?  What if he landed a little bit harder on Pierce in Game 1 of 2008?

If KG played in 09-10 like he played in 07-08...we wouldnt even have needed Perk in game 7...
