Does anyone wonder (and I'm just throwing this out) if Rondo is still sulking over Perk not being with Boston?

If these rumors of Rondo are true, that Danny is indeed shopping him heavily, it just seems to me that there has to be something behind this...

Rondo was not "consulted" ahead of time and showed his displeasure on the court.

Can't have that.

The final straw.

I love how everyone here takes Rondo as an unprofessional 14 year old child.

What the hell's the matter with you people? Have you forgotten Rondo's brilliance over the years?

How will Rondo react to all the rumors?

Let’s pretend the Celtics don’t trade Rondo. At this point, it seems like the likely outcome. Ainge will try to explain the rumors by telling Rondo something to the effect of, “But at least we tried trading you for Chris Paul and only Chris Paul, not anyone lesser.”

But here’s the thing: Rondo considers himself the league’s best point guard and has for years. Trying to trade him for a player Ainge considers better isn’t just likely to hurt Rondo’s feelings. It also attacks Rondo’s supreme self-confidence, one of the pillars on which Rondo has built his career. That confidence won’t go away anytime soon. But his trust and appreciation for Ainge (and perhaps Doc Rivers) sure might. Rondo can be an emotionally fickle guy. These rumors, even if that’s all they amount to, won’t help.

The difference between the current Rondo trade rumors and the 2009 Rondo trade rumors is this: Then, the Celtics were shopping Rondo because he misbehaved too often. Now, they’re shopping him because they think they can acquire a better player. Should Paul be traded elsewhere, the effect of these trade rumors on Rondo might be far greater (and worse) than they were two years ago.

Supreme self-confidence????? You've got to be kidding me.

Any player who shoots FTs at a 50% clip and hesitates to step into wide open 12 to 15 footers hasn't built his career on supreme self-confidence. He's built his career on sheer fantasy.

Not even close.

DH

He's built his career on being arguably the best in the league at pretty much every facet of being a point guard other than free throws and jump shots.

Why isn't NO jumping with excitement at the prospects of acquiring Rondo?

And why is DA so intent of putting the Rondo era in the Celtic's rear view mirror?

I think I know.

Why aren't teams jumping with excitement about getting CP3? Do you know this as well? Or is this something like "trying to get CP3 on your team" = "intent of putting the Rondo era in the Celtic's rear view mirror"?

I agree you *think* you know, doubt if there's much beyond that.

They want someone with a smaller contract.

DA is certainly jumping.

Unfortunately for DA, NO is less than excited about getting our "supremely confident" PG in return.

OUCH!!!

From LooseCannon's post (and I've heard this elsewhere) they're looking for someone on a smaller contract. Aren't Gordon and Curry still on their rookie deals? How do you know that's not the reason? Ouch...

Haha. Running a little low there on responses?

Sometimes I feel for people who's opinion of Rondo's contribution to an offense pretty much begin and end with his shooting woes. So, right back atcha.
