Go laundry!

So long as Kobe isn't in it, I'm good.

If Kobe wore a C's jersey, I could embrace him...  Might take me a few days to get used to it...but I'd come around :)

TP for that one RH!  I concur.

I root for the jersey primarily. I have had great dislike for certain Celtics  like Potapenko but I still rooted for them.   I hated their ineptness and inability to play well.  I disliked Vitaly because I could not comprehend how so big a man with such frame could rebound so poorly.

And even with the laundry idealogy, I have issues.

Would anyone here do a trade of KG for Pau Gasol?

I wouldn't. Pau doesn't bring the same kind of intensity and intangibles as KG does.

But he looks more attractive stats-wise at this stage in his career....even younger by a few years.

But I wouldn't trade KG for him.

I'm not sure if Pau only looks better stats-wise, or if he just looks overall better.  And you hit the exact reason:  he's younger by a few years.  KG shies away from contact lately; Pau does less.  7 footers can't be afraid of banging around underneath and KG is getting softer with age.  Pau hasn't quite hit that point yet.  I'd argue he may even be getting more physical with age (he was pretty soft in his younger years).

As I reflect back on my mortgage comment a bit ago, I have to remind myself that this is essentially what Boston did back in 2007-08 for KG.

I also have to look back on other posters here who have made the connection over the last few days of "Get Chris here (Ray Allen)....and Dwight (KG) will come."

So with this scenario we could potentially be looking at Banner 18 in June...Dwight coming next summer....and a 2012-13 lineup of:

C - Dwight
PF - KG (Hopefully he comes back)
SF - Pierce
SG - Ray (same as KG, above)
PG - Chris

We'll see. I'm still admittedly reluctant to trade Rondo, no matter how attractive it looks.

I love yellow cake with chocolate icing, but it ain't good for me at all.

I guess putting my emotions aside I can see Danny's frame of mind with the trade.

this is a league where if you want to win you need superstars and CP3 is probably a top 5-10 player in the league...not something you usually come by often...we already know D.howard doesnt want to come to boston because its "cold" so were not getting him in free agency unless we have attractive peices.. and maybe Rondo is more of a great complimentary piece than that guy to build around(then again I dont think you can effectively build around a PG but thats another story)

we're likely looking at a team sans Ray allen/Garnett next year anyways..so maybe we just need to be ready for change and shocking moves....I still dont like it though

When Ainge came here we saw the following happen

A possible Eastern Conference Finals contender (notice the word contender) get blown up with a trade of Antoine Walker for Jiri Welsch and Raef. Celtics fans Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ed and were wondering what the hell is this guy doing.

Later on, Danny traded Raef Randy Foye and Dan Dickau for Theo Ratliff and Bassy.

Those two were used as an expiring contract and a young player in the KG trade.

My point is that we need to give Ainge the benefit of the doubt here, either way...say if Paul comes here and he leaves then what do we have left? Pierce and 2 possible max contract players and a head coach who players love to play for. This is the worst case scenario...whether they get Howard or Paul or both...who knows but they could.

If we don't make the deal, KG probably retires, Allen probably comes back and Pierce is the main scoring option. You have flex for one max contract player and probably a mid level guy. Not a bad place to be, but everyone wants to be a part of a super team now.

How do the Celtics actually lose by trading Rondo? He cannot create his own shot and that is the type of player they need right now. Danny has talked about for years about not being like Red in regards to waiting for the window to close for the original big 3, everyone looked at KG and Ray to be traded. But why would you trade expiring contracts just for the sake of taking on salary? If this makes the team better for 2011-2012 then do it, and worry about 2012-2013 next year.

I root for the worthy player that helps make the name on the jersey meaningful.

I never just blindly root for the jersey.

The laundry don't play the game nor entice me to watch unless the player wearing that laundry has the real skills.

You transfer all the Celtic greats to Atlanta and the Celtics that we know aren't the Celtics anymore. Within that scenario, the Hawks would be, (arguably) the greatest franchise in NBA history.

it is rare that a player nowaday is drafted by a team and plays his entire career with that team.  thats one reason pierce is so special, imo.

with the current state of free agency and players rarely staying with a team for their career, it forces many fans to root for the uniform.  i have always said i root for the name on the front of the jersey before the one on the back.

if you can upgrade, i say do it.

To be honest, I'd be crushed if Ainge traded KG or Ray.

But I'd be practically heartbroken if he traded Pierce. I never want to see him in another NBA uniform.

I agree with the guy who wrote the topic. I cant separate myself from the players- I'm a loyal person. When someone dislocates their elbow and continues to play I cant turn my back on him and say "oh Chris Paul is better, lets trade Rondo". I don't care what stats are thrown up there, Rondo is my man and I will have a hard time watching the celtics with Chris Paul on our team. Rondo isn't interested in playing in limelight. He plays in an unfabulous city, yet he doesn't care. Hes loyal to us, going to Bruins games and whatnot. Boston is his city, so I'm loyal back.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
I'll always have love for those certain players, but I'm down with the team.

KG is a true Celtic and will be for life.  Perk is a true Celtic for life.  So are Marquis, Delonte, Powe, Rondo etc.  It doesn't matter what colors Lebron wears, he will never be a true Celtic.  Wade will never be a true Celtic.  Melo would never be a true Celtic.  Chris Paul can come here and win multiple championships... He will never be a true Celtic.  Chris Paul has demonstrated he has no heart by wanting to play in New York.

I watched every game of Rondo's rookie year and have savored in his success here as much as anyone else.

Chris Paul for Rondo gives us a new banner in 2012.
