Haha.  This is good stuff.  Many of us have probably been there with an ex (and those phone calls are inevitably well-received).  Anyway, the story:

Orlando Magic CEO Bob Vander Weide is retiring after a night of drinking and phoning Dwight Howard to plead with the center to stay, according to a report.

Vander Weide admitted to making the 1 a.m. call in an interview with Bright House Sports Network in Florida, saying he "maybe should have waited until the morning."

"I was playing paddle with friends and had a couple of glasses of wine," Vander Weide said. "Maybe Dwight thought it was inappropriate to talk business after a couple of glasses of wine."

Seriously, it's a good thing I don't have Chris Paul's number.  I'd totally be drunk dialing him on a nightly basis.  That could just get messy with my wife.

Drunk dialing your employee in the early hours of the morning is a serious lapse in professionalism. Once you've done that and it comes out there isn't any way to stay I'm afraid.

I'm glad it did becuase I've gotten a lot of laughs out of it.

In my mind this played out like a phone call to an ex you were simultaneously furious with and still wanted back. Switching between begging for her back and swearing at her.

CEO: You stupid ungrateful *#$&^$& I gave you everything and what do I have to show for it? I hope you get hit by a car!

Dwight: Are you drunk?

CEO: Please come back to me and sign an extension, we'll treat you right this time, no more questionable trades, nothing but the best for my big man.
