He'd be a good fit, but he's not coming to Boston. He'll get more money elsewhere. Same thing with Grant Hill.

All of the dynamics change if the C's can land CP.  The C's would go from a consideration to the top of the list for a guy like Battier.

  • Another undersized Celtic...
Battier has some good attributes but he's an old vet, just like our big 3. I know lots of people are on the "sign all the old vets for cheap" bandwagon, but I really feel like we need to get younger and more athletic, not older and slower. We'll get blown out of the water by the top teams in our conference, even if our offense is playing well and consistent. We're becoming like the Patriots: plenty of offense that inexplicably disappears and a mystery on defense. I don't think CP3 alone will get us much farther than we got last year, because his presence while great on offense will not make old legs younger on d. So does Battier help this?

From his Twitter: "Hmmm, I may have some interesting news tomorrow. But I need a full nights sleep first..........good night!"

I guess we'll find out soon enough where he's heading.

I think he's headed to South Beach. Hopefully he'll rub off a little on those 3 divas and teach them a thing or two about humility.

Unfortunately, I do too. I'm not sure what that means for the Heat's Center situation but I have a hunch we are going to see a lot of ___/Wade/Battier/James/Bosh lineups. There aren't really any 5s outside of D12 they'll see in the playoffs that Lebron or Shane can't guard (a la Jones on JO last year), and Joel can pick up the slack in certain situations.

yes, sounds like he's joining the Heat, too bad: from Blakely's Twiiter

"A. Sherrod Blakely

I've known him since he played at Duke and I covered the ACC. I suspect he's taking his talents to South Beach. RT @RSan87: @SherrodbCSN since u retweeted battier, is he on his way to becoming a celt?"

That's right. Isn't he the same height as Hayes, and the Kings just gave Hayes the full MLE for four years.

Shame if Battier goes to Miami. Would have thought he was classier than to hang with the divas in South Beach.

::) I don't know if I consider a list of 7 teams being a "short" list.

But at least we're being considered, so that makes me smile.

Well it does mean he's rejecting 23 other teams.  ;D
