and i don't feel that the team i love really has a chance, im more likely to be turned off

It's this part though.  There's always going to be other good teams, no matter how many stars are on one (or a few teams).  But when your team doesn't have a chance, you lose interest anyways.  I saw a lot of people lose interest in the C's between like '93 and '07.  But I don't think those C's fans lost interest because in '96 the Bulls were so much dominant over everybody else and the C's only won 33 games.  And even though the C's had no chance of winning the Finals in '03, a lot of fans interest probably grew after they made their run to the ECF, even though we all know they had no chance of the championship, they were good, even though they weren't good enough, just being good was enough to turn fans on.

Also look at USA basketball, teams full of stars don't necessarily equal better teams.

Ok, we disagree, but all this is to say I'm not scared of the super teams.  It won't turn me off to the NBA, if anything will make me more interested, but you disagree, it's cool.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

i guess im just acknowledging that my feelings about superteams are inherently hypocritical; if one of the superteams were the celtics, or another team i really like, i'd be stoked.  but the prospect of an nba dominated by the lakers and a team led by lebron is repulsive.

while my interest in the nba might be lessened if the celtics were non-competitive regardless of which teams were competitive, coupling that scenario with the teams / players i hate most dominating would make it especially hard to get excited.  this is especially true because unless i pay for NBA league pass i would have a hard time following any competitive teams i might actually like (e.g. the thunder).

Gasol, Odom, Blake, Caracter, 2 firsts

for

Howard and Arenas

A third team could also enter into the equation to take Odom, like say the Kings who get Odom and Ebanks from L.A. and send Thompson to Orlando

arenas will almost certainly be amnestied.  i don't see any scenario in which the magic hold onto him or any team agrees to trade for him.  once a team has traded for him they cannot amnesty him.
But if you want Howard and have no young cheap players to offer, what is in it for Orlando except the dumping of Arenas?
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
This is not going to happen. At least not through trades.

The Lakers arguably have the assets to acquire one of the two (a Bynum/Odom package, with draft picks), but not enough to acquire both, when names like Joakim Noah/Carlos Boozer are being floated out there in exchange for Howard.

I don't belive the Lakers will be able to trade for CP3, it doesn't make sense, you don't trade that much size for a PG. Sure they would get Okafor back but is he even better than Odom ?

The most likely trade scenario is Bynum,Odom for Howard but even here i'm not expecting the Magic to trade him, at least until the trade deadline, they could sell tickets until then and Howard sells tickets...So it's not happening.

BUT CP3 will either go to the Clippers, but they're unwilling to trade Gordon, the Warriors and the Hornets are interrested in S.Curry it seems or the Celtics in a trade involving a 3rd team, hope the Pacers still want to make a trade or Kings maybe ?

if LA trades them Odom, Gasol, and Artest, the Magic would almost certainly remain a solid playoff team in the East.  they could remain competitive for a least a few years.  it's possible otis smith might value that over an opportunity to rebuild.

the lakers could also relieve the magic of turkoglu's burdensome contract.  combine that with amnestying arenas, and the magic's financial situation would be greatly improved.
