1, The C's are one of a handful teams that would trade for Paul without an extension(Dallas, Houston, Lakers most likely)

2. The C's have the best offer on the table with Rondo(even if it has to be a 3 way tade, rondo is going to get you good young value back to send to New orleans along with bradley and picks if necessary. The c's can even swap Green fro Ariza giving the Hornets another young player with upside and save them money if they don't resign him after this year.

3. Paul isn't going to the knicks , they have no assets to trade for him

4. I don't think there's any way you can bring rondo back and have everything be ok now that he knows you wanna trade him even without having a contract extension in place. He already hates paul as it is( not that I care), but now there will be trust issues, kinda like antoine had with Danny

5. Doc signed a 5 year contract extension! That tells you that he knew something big is going down. There no way he returns for another rebuilding process, unless that rebuilding process includes adding CP3 who has the ability to attract DWIGHT HOWARD HERE.

I really think this is going to happen, we are going to land cp3 when all is said and done and will be front runners if Howard makes it to free agency

i don't think doc's extension had anything to do with anything other than doc's desire to continue coaching the celtics for the next 5 years instead of taking time off.  he thought about taking time off from head coaching to spend with his family, but they encouraged him to continue pursuing his passion for as long as he is able, so he did.

i like our chances to pull off a deal for chris paul, but at the moment im not sure if they're even at or above 50% just yet.

First off, I hate the idea of trading Rondo to begin with. Second to get Paul with no guarantee of an extension and watch him go to the Knicks would disgust me. To watch Danny blow up our championship caliber team first by trading Perkins, then Rondo wouldn't sit well with me.

i can understand where you're coming from, but it doesn't really bother me because i don't feel that this team, as constructed, is truly championship caliber anymore.  not with the arms race that has happened in the eastern conference over the last year or so.

If we end up with Jeff Green and Chris Paul for Rondo and Perk and still maintain the ability to add another max contract in 2012, I would say Danny has done a [dang] good job. I love Rondo, but he is not Chris Paul and likely never will be.

This gives the c's a much stronger chance to win a title this season .If he gets traded to the C's there is no way he doesnt sign an extension, unless he's insane. If he signs a contract extention by jan 1st he can make sign a 5 year/100 mil contract.

I agree with this.  I think it ends up being too much of a lateral move with a potentially less durable player. I'm willing to watch it unfold, just to add some tangibility to the constant debate about Rondo verses Paul and so I don't have to listen to Rondo bashing anymore.  But I'll watch with a very uneasy feeling.  And if we give up 2012 picks to do it I'll be way disgruntled.

Not sure i agree with your logic.

1. This is true and this I agree with.

2. This I do not agree with. I think both Los Angeles teams and Golden State could put together better packages, though I am not sure any of them would without a certainty that Paul will stay with them beyond next year. You see, Paul isn't going to sign an extension for anyone. It doesn't make any fiscal sense to do so under the current system. What makes sense for him is to play out the year and re-sign with whatever team he is traded to or do a sign and trade to a team he wants to be on with the team that owns his rights at the end of the year because otherwise he is leaving anywhere from $26-$50 million(depending on where he signs) on the table he would never be able to recoup.

3. This I agree with. If Paul is determined to end up in NY he will have to play out the season and take considerably less money from them in free agency. There is no way he ends up there in a trade.

4. I don't agree with this. Danny assured Rondo of his not desiring to trade him once before and Rondo played great last year before the plantar faceitis kicked in and hampered him the rest of the year. Rondo will be fine, his team mates and Doc believe in him.

5. Don't agree with this whatsoever. See Pos's post above. He said it all.

Hear, hear!

In sports, having a close knit team is just as important as assembling talent. Look at the Eagles in the NFL.

Imagine if CP3 is here but doesn't want to be? You will have factions form in the locker room. Either that or you will have a lonely, disgruntled superstar.

The Celts have always been about team first. To bring in someone who potentially doesn't fit that dynamic and this culture could be disastrous.

I was an opponent of the KP trade for the same reason. This isn't NBA 2k12, these are men who go to work together every single day. The bond is crucial to success.

But with Chris Paul, we'd still be a championship caliber team this season.

The next season, if we still have Rondo, we will no longer be a championship caliber team.

So by no way is trading Rondo for CP "blowing it up".

That team with a hobbled perk and Nate instead of green and krstic wasn't beating Miami. Nothing was blown up but rather assets were acquired for a guy who we was going to get more money elsewhere.

Neither will we be if all we have is Chris Paul, next year.

The point is Paul is more attractive to play with then rondo. We will have money and someone will want it
