According to sources, Nene, Chandler and Gasol all set their early asking prices in the neighborhood of maximum-contract territory, starting at $14.8 million for Gasol, $17.7 annually for Nene, and $20.7 million for Chandler. There is plenty of crossover in their respective lists of salary-cap-friendly suitors, with the Nets, Rockets and Warriors appearing to be the hungriest shoppers, and the Pacers and Trail Blazers strolling the big man aisles as well. Chandler is a stellar center in my opinion...But does anyone honestly think that he is going to get 21 mil per year?!! I thnk thats absurd that hes even looking in that direction. All of these are fairly ridiculously high... Id think 12-13 a year for Gasol and Nene would be fair and maybe...maybe 14-15 for Chandler on the high end... 21 a year?! No way!

a gm would have to be pumped full of numerous kinds of drugs to give any of those 3 players a maximum contract, especially chandler.

Something tells me that's the asking price from their *agents*. Not like they are going to lowball it...

Despite the Lockout weeping and wailing, some players are still going to push the evelope...will the owners still show total lack of sense?  Stay tuned...

Come on! Seriously ??? I was thinking like 10 mil at the most for Chandler. Nene maybe around 12 and Gasol 12 or 13. If Tyson Chandler is worth almost 21 million the Dwight should ask for 30. Chandler is already 29. His Finals run was blown wayyyyy out of proportion. Did he carry the team? Did he make plays for others? Did the Heat double him to stop him from dominating? Can he take over a game?

He still was very good. He is not a centerpeice, not a cornerstone, and definitely not worth 21 million a year

No more ridiculous than Rashard Lewis earning $20 million per annum.

Chandler is delusional if he thinks hes worth that sort of $$...hes a good center, good defender/rebounder...but hes a roleplayer, not a centerpeice sort of player. no one is going to give him $20million.

ya, he helped shore up the paint which allowed dirk to shine, but thats not worth 20million$

You mean he doesn't want to come here to play for the minimum?

I am a believer in the incentive/bonus setup.  Problem is sometimes needs or goals change during the course of the season.  Ultimate goal is Championship...and they already have the Championship cut and ring.

What do you mean 30mil? If Chandler is worth 21mil then Dwight is easily worth 50mil a year! Really! LOL Chandler's agent is funny, Bernie Mac level!

That's about $1 million for every combined point and rebound per game he gets (10/9). No way.

Makes me think of being served dessert at the dinner table as a kid in a big family.  Whenever one of us was asked how much pie or cake or whatever we wanted, we said "As much as I can have".

I bet all the primo free agent big man suitors are gazing longingly at Anderson Varejao's deal.

Similar value to Chandler, less than half the price.
