No surprise there. Bynum has been dying for an opportunity to show his stuff offensively. He has been unhappy with his role in LA for the past three years. Stuck behind Kobe and Pau. Never receiving enough touches or shot attempts to show what he can do.

And make no mistake, Bynum heavily equates star-play to scoring. He feels he needs to be a prolific scorer to be a dominant player in this league. Being a game changing defender/rebounder isn't as important as scoring to him. Being a key cog in a title contender, it's not enough for him. He wants more. He wants to be a scorer. To be a franchise player. For the team to be built around him.

To get the chance to go out to Orlando and be the focal point in every way. To have the offense run through him in the post. To establish himself as a 20ppg threat. He'd love that.

Very immature player.

If I'm Orlando, I don't want Bynum. Large injury history with an attitude problem. I'd rather have Brook Lopez.

I would take that with a grain of salt it would have been reported by more than just this source close to Bynum, no?

I would love to see the magic get Bynum and pair him with Glen Davis. Now that would be entertaining, they would eventually beat the hell out of each other.

Is howard not the same in his desires? He wants the offense through him too.

I didn't even find the article since that thing changes all the time, but don't all great players (and I'm not calling Bynum great) want to be the man.  Isn't that a quality you want in a player making 10+ million a year?

Rather have Bynum personally.  Higher risk, but higher reward.

Matt Barnes said he talked to Dwight and he told him he wants to be a laker.

At what point does the risk become too great?  In the last four years, Bynum has missed 47, 32, 17, and 28 games, not counting missed playoff games.

I mean, if we're looking at reward and largely ignoring risk, Orlando should trade Howard for Greg Oden, right?

Sometimes, it's just clear that a guy's body isn't going to hold up, and I think that's the case with Bynum.  Structurally, his body just doesn't have what it takes long term.

Weak man. Weak.

I like that we are looking at Bostjan Nachbar.  There's a name that I haven't heard in a while.

So...even as a Lakers fan and a fan of Bynum, I myself agree that it's a huge risk taking Bynum. I've never held my breath so many times when he hit someone knee to knee, seemingly ever. At the same time, when healthy, I feel that he is the number two center in the league. With defense and rebounding, he really does give a lot. Even offensively, I feel he gives a lot, as well, but just never gets a chance to display that particular skill-set, given the amount of shots taken by Kobe and Pau.

Also, even though some people might think of a NJ deal with Brook Lopez would be better for Orlando, If Howard doesn't sign an extension, then it doesn't really matter.

As far as him welcoming going to Orlando, this pretty much echoes what he has said numerous times. He's been mentioned in trade talks a ton of times (i.e. Chris Paul, Chris Bosh, etc.) and his answer has always been that he would be happy to play anywhere. I actually really believe that, anyway, since he grew up on the East coast.

Bynum remade his body with trainer Freddie Roach, who is in three Boxing Halls of Fame and now teaches champions Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan – and maybe more importantly, Roach's strength and conditioning specialist Alex Ariza.

Often twice a day over five months, six days a week, Bynum took this one healthy offseason that his always-failing knees finally gave him, and he bent them forward to put his nose to the grindstone. Howard can have the "Superman" theme; Bynum will take the "Rocky" music.
Quote
He lost 10 pounds to take a load off his knees while losing more body fat than Kevin Durant even carries. He strengthened his core and the muscles all around his knees, so critical for him to improve his base and make powerful moves when so weak in those knees. He ditched all the insecurities over sub-par conditioning and poor lateral movement that led him to rush things and get out of sync with his team.

He focused on developing quicker moves (drop steps, spin moves, one-dribble jump hooks, even the Dream Shake) and locked in on free throws, too.
Quote
You could even say the results have closed the biggest gaps between Bynum and Howard, because the feet are definitely lighter and the hands are far quicker now. This was Bynum's plan – although he upgraded in trainers from Roger Mayweather to Roach – long before he revealed himself in the season finale as someone who would take a shot at a guy a foot smaller.

That's a fair context for this, too, because the feeling now is this: Bynum, 24, has a never-before-felt comfort level with his big body
Quote
Even after the weight loss, he still has 10-plus pounds on Howard. Bynum tops 7-foot-1 in shoes, whereas Howard is barely more than 6-10 in shoes. Bynum is two years younger. In skills and touch, Bynum has always had the distinct advantage.

A bit of a fluff piece there ... hard to tell how much truth is in it.

But it'll be something interesting to keep an eye on early in the season. It looked like Bynum lost a huge deal of his explosiveness last year after all those injuries. I am very interested to see if he can get any of that back. And/or if he can improve his fluidity of movement and overall mobility (especially for pick and roll defense).

If A.Bynum can have a big start to the season, it could hugely enhance the Lakers trade prospects. Or, if kept and he stays healthy, their title prospects.
