I keep thinking it would be well worth it to acquire Chris Paul by trading Rondo, but then I remembered this game:

That type of grit and heart is rare. I wonder what they might have done last year if Rondo's elbow didn't snap out. All I know is players with Rondo's competitiveness is pretty special.

Pretty special???? not really.

Rondo had been AWOL for months, playing like he was sleep walking prior to the injury... ever since (1) his bud, Perkins got traded or maybe it was (2)Obama teased him about not being able to shoot.

Where were the grit, the passion, the competitiveness for those long months he played plain pitiful like he was lost in his own special self-absorbed stupor???

After the injury, he played with urgency, with passion, fueled by large amounts of plain old fashion adrenalin.

It made great, great theatre and folk lore... but it was way too little, way too late. The series and season were over.

Somebody commented that Rondo needs to get his arm dislocated before every game.

There may be some truth to that.

The first two posts are the yin and the yang of Rajon Rondo.

At times, he plays all out.  He's had moments of hustle that have reminded us all of Dave Cowens and Larry Bird.

At other times, he's played passively, with absolutely no aggression.  It's like he's moving at 3/4 speed, and he's not attacking the basket at all.  By his own admission, his level of play dropped off, due in part to Perk being traded.

I think his hustle is more good than bad, but he's definitely an inconsistent player in that regard.

I must have imagined that Rondo had severe foot problems for the duration of the previous season.  I seem to be the only one who remembers it.

He can be gutsy.  When he plays hard he is heads and tails above some of the NBA.  I recall him beating CLE and ORL with his play that one year.

He did get in a funk when Perk was traded.   He did show guts going out and playing with one arm.  He is a tough kid.  I suspect he is also stubborn.   Tough guys usually are as a big part of being tough is simply saddling up when others won't.

I think he would be happier with some up tempo fast break ball that hides his weakness ( his shot) and allows him to run.  I really hope JJ helps in that regard.

If only his heart could improve his shooting.

I think, by his own admission, his play dropped off mainly due to injuries he was playing through. I think some of the other players mentioned this as well.
