Doesn't Shaq always praise his teammates?  (While they're teammates, for the most part anyways).

In Orlando it was Anfernee Hardaway was going to the best player in the league.

In LA it was Kobe is the best player in the league (Something like "I'm the most dominant, he's the best").

In Miami, Dwyane Wade was suddenly the best player in the league.

In Phoenix, it was Amare Stoudemire is the best big man in the league.

In Cleveland, it was LeBron is the best player in the league.

And now since he left the Celtics on good terms (and may still return  ;)), he's just touting his most recent teams best young player.  Nothing new from Shaq.

Granted though, Shaq has had some great teammates, so it's not like most of those claims were that far-fetched.  Still when you constantly say your current teammate is the "best" or "better than" someone else, and then change opinions when you move on to the next team, you  lose some credibility.

this is 100% spot on.

for the record, if shaq truly believes rondo is better than cp3, he is a moron.

Or, inversely, one might say if Shaq did not believe that Rondo was better, he would be a moron.   ;)

  • You say when......
This is also a knowledge vs experience also....system is no easy read..Cp3 will not pick it up right away, if at all. Rondo has what now 3-4 years playing with the same guys...the things you know about each other is irreplaceable..more so in a "no pre-season, no practice" year...and when is or would this cp3 guy show up...this isn't an all star game....Rondo knows where everyone will be all the time, when ever he runs in one position, they have already set where all the rest of the team will be, looking for the ball. Cp3 will have no idea. I also believe he is an iverson type, he needs and wants the ball more...all Celtics have sacrificed their individuality for the team concept, another thing cp3 hasn't ever shown..another big adjustment. Now we know he won't sign long term....you give up one of the top 5 if not 3 best pg's...for a maybe guy.....no...i still say you sign a rebounder/ runner / defender type...the solid contributer..no not scal..someone who really has rebounds....ones you see, real time, in the leon powe mold..even if it is just rebounds and position Defense..Rodo needs another guy to run with also..a fast break layup guy....that is why i would love to dump bbd...he is the type that only does what fits HIM, not the team..we need a rebounder, he won't do it, a runner, he won't run, finisher around the rim, his shot gets blocked more than any other, won't dunk..and charges, well, they help..but who was out of place that made a charge neccessary..?

well, you have me pretty well pegged, but I like to think experience has a little to do with it, too....

Not sure if he's right, but I like the comment.  It's a more accurate assessment than when Shaq talked about how good Jiri Welch was.
