Should the C's look to sign him long term as a Ray replacement? I think he can still be a high quality player and he would likely come pretty cheap. If we signed him for the full MLE this year it would take away some of our cap space, but would give us a key piece with Rondo/Green to push for Howard. His injuries were bad, but he has started to regain some form. Even if he conditions. I believe he can top out as a 18ppg scorer a night. That's pretty good production for an MLE price. Thoughts?

I doubt he will be available.  If he is amnestied, I would be shocked if a team under the cap doesn't make a bid for him, which would prevent him from becoming a free agent.

How many teams have cap space?

I am not positive with cap holds, etc., but somewhere around 10.

And, if I understand the rule correctly, a team could essentially win Roy for the vet minimum, if they were the only team under the cap bidding.  And I am sure plenty of teams will put in at least a minimum bid, just in case no one else goes higher.

Teams over the cap don't even get a shot, unless no one under the cap wants him.

He is pretty damaged goods. Sad but true. Perhaps we should get him and Tmac to go with JO.

Yeah you're right. Let's hope him and his agent can dissuade non contenders from picking him up.

Maybe a one year deal to play 15 minutes a game...If he can even handle that... Long term replacement? Not a chance. Some team will give him a boatload of money based on the player has he proven he can be and he'll be plauged by injury. Unfortunately i pass.

Let's make a run at Greg Oden too.

Rumor has it that the Twolves will be interested.

So I am assuming a player who is amnestied is essentially put on waivers.

The player gets paid (by old team),  new team has to bid in a blind auction for new contract.  I would assume this "new contract" would be limited in length to the players old contract.  If not thats a bad deal for the players.

I can see players refusing to sign if they don't like the destination they up in.  Most likely this will be done openly and possily vociferously.

Saw this as well. Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

Bleh.  Cause that's what the T-Wolves need . . . more depth.
