What do you guys think about adding Reggie Evans as a backup PF?  Looking at last years numbers he averaged 15 rebounds per 36 minutes.  He had a major injury but other than that he was effective.  Of course his offensive game is non-existent aside from offensive rebounding and he has been known to be a very dirty player.  Rebounding should be a high priority fix as we averaged near the bottom of rebounds per game last year.

Reggie Evans is a one-trick pony. He's a fringe NBA talent at best.

Yeah, the rebounding is great.  However, you get poor defense, poor scoring, poor efficiency, and poor passing.

I’m ok with that though.  I think a lot of times with bench players you have to settle for one-dimensional guys, especially after like the 6th or 7th guy in the rotation.

If you can get a guy whose is great in one area and poor in all others, it’s often better than a guy who is average in a couple of areas, and below average (or even poor) in the others.  One-dimensional guys like Reggie Evans (or Eddie House) are solid additions to a contending team.

Plus Reggie Evans comes off as a good character with a good attitude, and is definitely someone who hustles, both of which are positive traits that can also be contagious.

I like the idea of Reggie Evans on the Celtics.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

If he is a league minimal guy that is the 5th big man on this team.

If nothing else, he can get under the skin of the other guy.  Just ask Kaman.

Considering how desperately this team needs inside scoring, I can't justify giving significant playing time to a guy who is an absolute liability on that side of the floor.

We'd never see the rebounding, though. The rebounding issue with the Celtics is because of the system, not so much the players. They don't go after ORs unless they are easy ones, in order to get back on defense, and as far as DRs go the C's are perfectly in line with everyone else in the league (last season we got three of every four, which is good for 9th overall, better than average).

I'd argue that this is perfectly fine, since the C's had one of the lowest eFG% for the opposing team, and a respectable eFG% for themselves.

So that being said, seems to me like this guy does nothing we'd find useful at all.

the lack of offensive rebounding we can live with, it's the utter lack of inside scoring that kills us.  also, not having guys down low on offense is what leads to us having so few offensive rebounds.  add a guy to the offense who makes his living catching the ball and finishing inside and our offensive rebounding rate would rise quite a bit.

With all the offers Evans is getting this offseason, I bet he's just got the league by the balls.
