I would really consider this.

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=6ns5uf5

Griz Receive:
Ray
JO

Celts Receive:
Marc Gasol
Battier
Mayo

Celtics: we get younger, a reliable center, more depth, and a scorer

grizzlies : what better time to compete for a ship then now. ray allen is exactly what that team needs and is looking for a consistant sg to go with rudy gay.

I threw in battier for cap purposes but once gasol signs his contract the numbers should work.

there is some bads for both teams

celtics lose their best shhooter, and can pierce slide to sg

grizzlies lack center depth and jermaine oneal is injury prone

I'd love for Boston to somehow get Marc Gasol, but there's no way the Grizzlies get rid of him without getting another solid big in return.

First off, two of those three guys are free agents. Second, dealing any sign and trade transaction would involve multi year contracts that would surely cut into our 2012 cap space eliminating the ability to even make a pitch at Dwight Howard. So without even evaluating the deal from the perspective of talent vs. talent, I would say "no way".

Also, please post the trade next time instead of linking to an external site. It's just unnecessary and wastes time.

gasol is a restricted free agent. and I only tossed battier for the salaries like I said. so u wouldnt make this move if memphis offered it? only because you want to make a "pitch" at howard knowing that howard expresses most interest in staying in orlando and the possibility of him signing with another team?

we do not have the money to sign any big name free agents and our current starting 5 is not a contender

Howard is the type of player that can equate to multiple championships if surrounded by the right people. Doc Rivers is one of the most popular coaches in the league and should be given the opportunity to sell Howard on the idea of playing in Boston. Even if there is little chance of it happening, Gasol and Mayo are not worth completely eliminating all possibility. Those two guys are the type of complimentary players a team should add after already acquiring a few superstars. Otherwise we will be strapped for cash because of the cap and not bad enough to acquire major talent through the draft. We need to avoid an annual 7th seed playoff birth.

I would say yes if I am C's:

Young talented C, and dynamic SG. Not to mention 3 & D SF? That's every piece we need to contend this year and in future, Sure no Dwight, but with Rondo, Mayo, Green & Gasol we'd bein the playoffs for years to come. Get lucky with a 1st rounder and you've got challenger....

However, if I am the Grizzles I  would never do this lopsided deal. #1 they have a young talented team and they are going to deal away their Center for a guy with no knees? #2  Ray may help them in the playoffs but not for this price.. Not for one year. That just isn't good business for Memphis. Getting older and more injury prone by dealing one of the better up & coming centers is unwise.

Mayo may be on the block but you'll need an offer that provides value for money. S&T Glen Davis for Mayo would be more likely at this point...

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Haha.
'Makes sense for both teams'.
I dunno what drugs the Grizzlies GM would have to be on...
This would NEVER happen.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

the trade machine is out of date since march this year, it probably won't work properly until december 9th when free agency opens.

true but Wallace only makes those kinds of lopsided deals with teams other than the C's.

I'd love to see this happen. That said, there's no way Memphis trades 3 quality players to Boston for two players in their mid 30s (one of which has a bad back.)
