We've seen the best Perk can do, he's limited and honestly on a good team he is a backup center. Nate did little for OKC, he's a spark plug but no eddie by far (except he CAN dribble)
The draft pick...mr ainge this is the icing. Perk & his agent were talking top dollar for a man at his level. We are going to get a very good draft pick that can be signed to rookie deal. He has also left us with good cap room with expiring deals and timing to go after top level free agents.
I'm still wondering why ANYONE thinks trading Perk wasn't a great deal
+1 2short....as you alluded to, even if we didn't get the Clipper draft pick, which could be some real sweet starter-type icing or a valuable trade chip to get a piece we need,
we still got the better of this deal:1. Perkins was damaged goods last year right to the end of the season and to me it was highly unlikely he could've made a big impact for us, despite his romanticized, inflated value that so many have attributed to him. Also..
2. We could NEVER have signed him at the end of the season. As a matter of fact, it was highly likely that he would have ended up in OKC anyway, and what would we have gotten?....NADA
3. There are a lot of miles on Perk, despite his young age: knees, shoulder, etc.
4. Green is 25 years young, versatile, athletic, healthy and intelligent, all things that Perkins is not. And as an RFA, we most likely will have him this year, if there is a this year.
As an aside,if Rondo hadn't pouted for the rest of the season because his BFF was traded away and been more professional, maybe he would've been more interested in playing up to his potential and our seed would've been better.
Maybe we should've thrown Rondo in the trade and gotten Westbrook and either Harden or Ibaka.
I think Rondo is very high maintenance.
