What are some of the more interesting question marks/things to watch out going into the next season for any team in the NBA?

Dallas:
Are they going to have another championship year or have they peaked?

Rudy Fernendez is going to be interesting to watch in a much faster system.

Sacramento:
DeMarcus Cousins, JJ Hickson and Tyreke Evans is going to be a good watch. Although maturity is even more of a question now.

Jimmer Fredette. Will he live up to the hype or go bust?

Lakers:
All down hill from here? Phil Jackson left on a very ugly note. Now they hire Mike Brown, whose playbook consists of isolating LeBron. Kobe would like him, maybe? Or would we get to see more drama between Kobe and coach?

Raptors:
If they play Bargani at the PF and Valanciunas at the C, that's a very tall and quite talented front court. They also have Ed Davis, who can play C in 2k12 (lol), and Amir Johnson as backups. Demar Derozan is definitely on the rise.

Their have no good SF though. Apparently Sonny Weems is better at the guard.

Would be interesting to watch how it all pans out. Lots of talent.

Timberwolves:
Beasley and Derrick Williams? Oh what will they do with them.

Kevin Love. Will he keep breaking expectations?

Ricky Rubio. Enough said.

To me, a team that I will watch with much interest is San Antonio.

Tim Duncan is getting along in the years, and seems to have aged faster than KG, IMO. Splitter, though a decent player, hasn't yet taken that next step.

Even Ginobili, though still very good and a borderline All-Star even at this stage in his career, is getting older.

They've still got Pop, and he's great enough as a coach to keep the team competitive.

But unlike the 80's and 90's, there's no repeat blessings with this team...there are no David Robinson's and Timmy's out there to fall into their laps.

The Spurs are perhaps my 2nd or 3rd favorite team, but it will be very interesting to me to see them this season (if there is one) and into the next few years.

Could we perhaps be looking at a Spurs team that may not qualify for the playoffs in 2012-13 :o. That will be very strange to see.

I wish them the best, though.

Made a move on draft day, too. Lost George Hill, who's decent, but got a lot of depth at the very least and Kawhi Leonard. Hell of a savvy move. They're one of the best run teams.

Teams like the spurs, lakers, and mavs will be hurt badly by missing the season.  Unlikely theyll get back to the level they were at before, leaving the door open for younger teams to take up the mantle.   This absolutely applies to the celtics as well.

You can add Boston to that list too.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Teams I can't wait to watch next season not named the Celtics:

#1) Houston Rockets: I've not just jumped on the Kyle Lowry bandwagon, I've bought season tickets. I think he's about to make the leap into the top-5 conversation at the point, and at only 25 years old, he's just entering his prime. I've always liked Kevin Martin, and Houston has one of the most 'star-ready' rosters out there. They've got plenty of trading chips in young talent and they're likely one move away from being a second round team.

#2) OKC: Durant, Harden, Ibaka, Perkins. Holler. I love all those players. They're only going to get better, and Ibaka/Harden both have all-star potential next season.

#3) Minnesota: Rubio, WIlliams, Love. Plus, we have the always satisfying storylines of Darko Milcic or ANthony Randolph, or, as they are more commonly known, the supergroup 'Potential, Revisited.'

They just need to trade Beasley, and grow together a little bit and I think they're a formidable core.

#4) Golden State Warriors: Please, dear lord, let them trade Monta Ellis to a team I don't like or a team I don't care about. See: Hornets, Lakers, Hawks etc..

#5) Washington Wizards: Please, dear lord, let them trade Andray Blatche to a team I don't care about. Jan Veesley, John Wall, JaVale McGee...oh yes.

I'm on board with you here, especially on Houston -- I'm interested to see how Motiejunas does with them (he fell far on draft day after being projected as a lottery pick).  I love Kevin Martin, I like Kyle Lowry, and I want to see how McHale does as a coach.  I'm also interested to see how Adelman does in Minnesota.

Also keep in mind that with a lost season, the T-Wolves, Warriors, and Wizards would all likely be in line for high draft picks again.  With a draft class full of 3's and 4's, that could be VERY interesting for the T-Wolves.  Hahah.  Can you imagine the T-Wolves being forced to draft Harrison Barnes or Anthony Davis or something and adding them to a roster that already has Derrick Williams, Beasley, K-Love, and Wes Johnson?  Oh boy.

I am not there yet but the Memphis Grizzlies are rapidly rising through the ranks. I guess Chris Wallace was a good GM after all. He needed to get away from the king of all hardline owners Paul Ga$ton.

Looks like he has a PG for his system now  ;)

Portland could be a very stacked team the next season.  There are rumors of both Jamal Crawford and Carl Landry joining them, which might be possible if they waive Roy.
Raymond Felton - Nolan Smith
Jamal Crawford - Wesley Matthews - Jon Diebler
Gerald Wallace - Nicolas Batum - Luke Babbitt
LaMarcus Aldridge - Carl Landry - Chris Johnson
Greg Oden - Marcus Camby - Earl Barron
That is one of the most athletic and talented starting unit in the league.  Their second unit is also insanely talented.

Charlotte Bobcats with Kemba Walker and Bismack Biyombo should be fun to watch.  Will Michael Jordan redeem himself as a scout or add to his mistakes.

Will this be the year when the Clippers surpass the Lakers?  If they can trade Kaman for a small forward like Igoudala or Beasly they would be frightening.
Mo Williams - Eric Bledsoe
Eric Gordon - Randy Foye - Travis Leslie
Andre Igoudala - Alfarouq Aminu - Jamario Moon
Blake Griffin - Ike Diogu
DeAndre Jordan - Trey Thompkins
That is a very athletic and explosive starting five.

How good will Memphis be when Rudy Gay joins the party?

Cleveland and Utah with a lot of young talent should be fun to watch.

Will the Denver Nuggets play their games via skype from China? Wilson Chandler, J.R. Smith, Kenyon Martin are all there with no out clause.  Gallinari is in Italy.

Is Eddy Curry the answer for Miami?

Will the Magic trade Dwight?

I'll be watching the Nets closely.  They have cap space, a desirable new home in 2012, Bird rights on a (arguably) top 10 player in his prime, and a very talented young 7 footer, who could either be a great trade chip, or a building-block.

They are set up as well as any team to jump the competition.

I think it will be interesting to see what happens in Memphis.  A lot of people seem to be high on them right now, and then you get to add Rudy Gay to the team!  I think they’re a one-hit-wonder though.  Like the 2006 Clippers who lost in 7 games in the 2nd round, then added key sub Tim Thomas (and haven’t made the playoffs since).  Or like Golden State in 2007 when they knocked out the 67 win Mavs in the first round (and haven’t made the playoffs since).  Or like the 2008 Hornets who took the defending champs to 7 games in the 2nd round and then added super sub James Posey (and have only won 3 playoff games since).  All 3 of those teams were thought of as up-and-coming teams on the rise, and they all made key improvements in the offseason while keeping the core together.  I think Memphis will be similar, but we’ll see.

I also think what happens in Miami will be interesting.  Will they self destruct?  Will they be able to sign any key free agents?  Will they make a gamble (like trading Bosh or one of their 2 non-minimum contract guys Haslem or Miller)?  Or will they win it all (I sure hope not).  I hope they self destruct, but we’ll see.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

I actually want to see Wolves, Wizards and Clippers in that order...

I think one of those 3 will make the playoffs (8th seed)...

The wolves will be fun to watch with Rick Aldeman with Ricky Rubio, Wesley Johnson, Beasley, Love, and Milicic

In my opinion as fun as Blake is fun to watch, the way hes playing somehow I see him getting an injury and done with

Wizards with John Wall is always fun (if Javale McGee starts maturing), will kinda be fun to watch with veteran leadership in Lewis...Nick Young seems to be good as well...and somehow I still believe Yi could be a good role player one day =\ lol

Yeah, an injury prone style of play. Reckless.

Worried about his long term future. Needs to smarten up.
