How many of you would be startled to discover Isiah Thomas has been creepin’ round Billy Hunter’s back door to get his job?

How many would be stunned to learn Florida International University’s current head coach is angling in due course to replace the executive director of the Players Association should its membership feel flogged (compromised following so many compromises) by David Stern upon the completion of a new collective bargaining agreement or if negotiations again break down and additional salary (games) get forfeited?

How many would be surprised to find out Thomas, a former president of the union during his playing days, is coiled to commandeer the slightest insinuation of instability and insurgence?

This might just be the most unintentionally funny story I have ever seen.

The man that mismanaged the New York Knicks into obscurity, the man that managed the Continental Basketball Association into bankruptcy, the man that was maybe one of the worst NBA franchise owning partners ever in Toronto wants to represent the NBA players as its union head.

LOL.

What in the world on Isiah's post NBA playing career resume makes Isiah think he could do a better job than Hunter? Isiah might be the single worst businessperson in NBA history. The players have to be laughing their butts off to this story.

He's the guy that signed all those crybabies and traded away all their 1st round picks to get some of those crybabies.

Donnie Walsh signed Amare. Isiah was long gone by then bro.

Zeke brought in Eddie Curry for many different 1st round picks(one ended up being Derrick Rose) and traded for Zach Randolph before he grew up. He signed Jerome James and Jared Jeffries to ridiculous full MLE contracts. He fired Larry Brown and replaced him with....himself. And he was involved in a major sexual harassment scandal while there as well.

Amar’e Stoudemire is one of several NBA players currently working out at FIU, and according to the NY Daily News, Isiah Thomas (and Knicks owner James Dolan) are hoping to use this opportunity and others to help lure Chris Paul to New York:

Small correction, nick, but I don't think Rose was a pick from the Curry trade.  I think those picks became Lamarcus Aldridge (who the Bulls traded for Ty Thomas) and Joakim Noah.

That's right, my bad. Chicago had the option to swap picks in 2007 and 2008 was the year they got lucky with their own lottery number.

Still, Ty Thomas and Joakim Noah or Eddie Curry, the poster child for why the owners should win this lockout? I'ld take Noah and Thomas every time.

No doubt (although the Bulls royally screwed up by trading Aldridge).  Of course, with a better PF, they're probably not bad enough to land Rose, so I guess it worked out for them.

Back to the main point, Isiah has repeatedly shown that as as executive, he's terrible.  Between mismanaging contracts, the sexual harassment stuff, and bankrupting the CBA, there's not a lot of success on his record.
