MetLife Stadium is a stadium in the New York City Metropolitan Area, and part of the MetLife Sports Complex, in East Rutherford, New Jersey. It is the home of the New York Giants and New York Jets of the National Football League and is adjacent to the site of the former Giants Stadium, which was home to the Giants from 1976 until December 2009 and the Jets from 1984 until January 2010. Like its predecessor, the new stadium is the only NFL stadium shared by two teams.
However, unlike Giants Stadium, in which the Jets were tenants of the Giants, the new stadium is a 50/50 partnership between both teams. The stadium is owned by the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority on paper however, the two teams jointly built the stadium using private funds, and administer it jointly through the MetLife Stadium Company. The stadium opened as New Meadowlands Stadium on April 10, 2010, featuring the Big City Classic lacrosse event. In 2011, MetLife, an insurance company based in New York City, acquired the naming rights to the stadium.
At a construction cost of approximately $1.6 billion, it is the most expensive NFL stadium ever built, and is the largest stadium in the NFL in terms of permanent seating capacity, with seats for 82,566 people. On May 25, 2010, it was announced that Super Bowl XLVIII was awarded to the stadium, the first time a Super Bowl would be played in the New York metropolitan area, and the first time that a non-domed stadium in the northern United States would host the largest American football game in the professional ranks.

SUMMARYThe New England Patriots will face the New York Jets this week in a battle for first place in the AFC East in a Sunday Night Football contest. The Patriots enter this week's game in a three-way tie for first place with Buffalo and the Jets, all with 5-3 records. It is the first time there has been a three way tie for first place in the AFC East in the second half of the season since Week 16 of 2008. The Patriots will aim for their 14th series sweep after beating the Jets, 30-21, on Oct. 9 at Gillette Stadium in the first meeting.
The game this week against the Jets is the second of two straight games against New York opponents after the Patriots faced the Giants last Sunday. It marks the second time in franchise history that the Patriots will face the New York teams in consecutive weeks. In 1990, the Patriots closed out the season with games at the Jets and home against the Giants. It is the 9th time since 2000 that a team has played both New York teams in consecutive weeks and first since the 2009 Saints hosted the New York teams in back-to-back weeks.
BROADCAST INFORMATIONTELEVISION This week's game will be broadcast to a national audience by NBC and can be seen in Boston on WHDH-TV Channel 7, and WCSH-TV Channel 6 in the Greater Portland area. Al Michaels will handle playby- play duties with Cris Collinsworth providing color. Michele Tafoya will serve as the sideline reporter.
NATIONAL RADIO This week's game will be broadcast to a national audience by Westwood One Radio Sports. Dave Sims and James Lofton will call the game. Kevin Kiley will provide sideline analysis.
RADIO 98.5 FM, The Sports Hub, is the flagship station for the Patriots Radio Network. Play-by-play broadcaster Gil Santos is in his 35th season as the voice of the Patriots and will call the action along with Patriots Hall of Famer Gino Cappelletti. Former Patriots quarterback Scott Zolak will provide sideline analysis.

SERIES HISTORYThe Patriots and Jets will meet for the 106th time, including three postseason games, since the series between the AFC East rivals began in 1960. The teams met three times last season, splitting the regular season series before the Jets gained a victory in the NFL playoffs.
The teams split the season series in each of the last three seasons with the Patriots riding a two-game losing streak in Jets home games following losses in 2009 and 2010.
The all-time series is even at 52-52- 1 after the Patriots beat the Jets, 30- 21, in the first matchup of the year on Oct. 9 at Gillette Stadium. The Patriots will be looking for the 14th sweep in the annual series this week at MetLife Stadium.
The Patriots are 24-27 all-time in road games against the Jets, including a loss in their first-ever game played at MetLife Stadium on Sept. 19, 2010.

New England is 23-14 against the Jets since Robert Kraft purchased the team in 1994. New England's 52 victories over the Jets (including two playoff wins) are the second most over any single opponent, trailing only Buffalo with 61 all-time wins.

DREW BLEDSOE AND JON MORRIS INTO PATRIOTS HALLDrew Bledsoe and Jon Morris are the 2011 honorees that were inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame. Bledsoe and Morris were inducted in a public ceremony outside The Hall at Patriot Place presented by Raytheon at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17. The event was free to the public and Patriots fans were encouraged to attend.
Bledsoe was voted by the fans as the 17th player and 18th member to enter the Patriots Hall of Fame. Since the new process for induction was instituted in 2007, Bledsoe earned the highest percentage of votes for any candidate and becomes the first player to be selected by the fans into the Patriots Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.
Morris was selected by a 10-person senior selection committee. The selection was made on Friday, March 25 and affirmed with a phone call from Patriots Chairman and CEO Robert Kraft, who notified Morris of his induction later that afternoon.
PATRIOTS DEDICATE 2011 SEASON TO MYRA KRAFTThe New England Patriots announced that they will dedicate the 2011 season to the loving memory of Myra Kraft, who passed away on July 20 after a courageous battle with cancer. Every Patriots player and coach will honor Myra‘s memory by wearing a patch with her initials on it in recognition of her lifelong contributions to the local and global community and her influence on the charitable mission of the entire Patriots organization. The patch will be worn on the left chest of every player throughout the season.
