Back up for a second, dude.

"For Christmas I got my girlfriend a refurbed Dyson Ball vacuum."

Am I the only one who sees a *major* problem with this statement?  You buying her an ironing board as well?

Haha I know it doesnt sound that great, but she has been fawning over the dyson ball vacuums for the past 2 years, and our current vacuum is pretty terrible.

Actually the other day, she asked me what I wanted for christmas and I said I dunno, and she was like, well don't you want to know what I want?  and I said, "I already ordered your present, it just hasnt come yet." and completely unprompted she says, "Is it a dyson!?!"

So I know it sounds kinda bad, but she really wants it!

Nice play there...
When I first read the opening statement, my thought was you'd better try for a warranty on the relationship.

She may be playing along for now but don't be surprised if her attitude changes when she unwraps it.  Most women would make a comment along the lines of "well, this'll be the only ball that will get any action around here".

Well if it makes a difference, I did have to tear up one of my man cards when I got her our anniversary present.  Went into the coach store at the mall and picked out a purse...   I think I still have some good will built up.

I think a vacuum is okay as a present, so long as she truly has been asking for it and is excited.  However, make sure you get her something else -- even if it's small -- that is "romantic".

When we purchased our house, the first thing we bought (you know after paint and stuff like that) was a treadmill.  It is still the greatest purchase we have made for the home and that was 4 years ago.

I would just buy the treadmill now and get her something else for Christmas.

When you say something else romantic do you mean like a toaster?
