Ed Macauley + Cliff Hagan for Bill Russell

The #1 pick (Joe Barry Carroll) for Robert Parish + #3 pick (Kevin McHale)

A suitcase full of cash and the Cavs' 1st rounder (became Rudy Fernandez) for Rajon Rondo and Brian Grant.

The #1 pick (Joe Barry Carroll) for Robert Parish + #3 pick (Kevin McHale)

Might have to be this one.

Second place: Kevin Garnett for Al Jefferson, Gerald Green, Theo Ratliff, Ryan Gomes, Sebastian Telfair, two first round picks (Jonny Flynn and Wayne Ellington), and cash

Rick Robey, a 1983 2nd round draft pick (Rod Foster) and a 1983 2nd round draft pick (Paul Williams) to the Suns for Dennis Johnson, a 1983 1st round draft pick (Greg Kite) and a 1983 3rd round draft pick (Winfred King).

Essentially Rick Robey to the Suns for DJ and Greg Kite.

When DJ retired Red had two watches made. He gave one to DJ and one to the Suns GM who okay'd the deal.

It was a great trade, at the time DJ was considered an attitude problem (or at least in phoenix) who was past his prime.  We didn't get the supersonic DJ but we got a perfect piece to our puzzle.

Ed Macauley + Cliff Hagan for Bill Russell

The crazy thing about this deal is that St. Louis actually got pretty good value for the #2 pick.  Hagan and Macauley won them a championship, and Hagan and Macauley were both all-stars for St. Louis (although Macauley only had a few years left).  Russell is by far the best player in the deal, but Red had to give up legit talent in return.

The real "best trade" is probably convincing Rochester to take Si Green over Russell in return for one week of the Ice Capades.

either the Russell deal or the Mchale deal.  Probably have to go with the Mchale deal because what they gave away did absolutely nothing for the other team whereas the same doesn't really apply in the Russell deal.

The Robey/DJ deal was pretty sweet too
