Ill-advised or crazy like a fox?  Either way I would have liked to be a fly on the wall ..

Actually, I could do with him at a few of my work meetings .. "Send in KG, we need some fresh thinking in here"!!! :P
Stay classy, San Diego. Hello, Baxter? Baxter, is that you? Bark twice if you're in Milwaukee. Is this Wilt Chamberlain? Have the decency to say something.

Cheap but effective tactic by the owners.  Put the blame on a passionate but controversial player to create division and mistrust among the players and the fans.  What a bunch of...

Yup.  All is fair in negotiating though.  Stern is running a campaign to convince the players that Hunter is losing a grip on the union...and I have a feeling it is working.

Notice the quote is "management" saying KG messed everything up.  Not the players.  So management was making progress until KG came in.  If this story was written from a different perspective (the players), it could just as well say "KG represents the players heart", and be spun in a positive light.  If you think the owners should be given everything they want so the season can start...yeah KG $#@%ed that all up.  If you think the players should stand together with resolve...then KG probably made the owners understand that some of the players absolutely will not waver.

The reality is that probably none of us know Garnett outside of an NBA court and interviews.

It probably isn't the same Garnett we think we know...Nor Pierce or Bryant that went into those meetings.

They're not going to overtly disrespect the people who sign their paychecks or the guy who issues the fines.

NBA stars didn't get where they are in the NBA by being stupid.

or perhaps, there was progress (which seems to say that both the owners and players were moving foward in agreement) of a sort, and KG shut it all down.

but who did KG represent? i dont know if all the players would agree with his stand (and i guess kobe and pierce) or not.

hard to draw much out of this except that at least a few players are being hardline.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

The real problem is between the Hawk - Have Not owners vs Dove - Have Owners....... The root cause of the problem is that the owners of teams that are struggling have no access to the stars of the league like Lebron, Dwayne, Derrick Rose, Garnett, Pierce, Kobe, Dirk, Durant, and other stars. So what we really need is a contraction of the NBA to 24 teams and a consolidation of talent to bring about more parity and a chance to stand up to LeDwayne Chris James BronBoshWade, KobePau GasBryant, and KG Paul Ray AllenPierce.

I would like to have George Karl as Doc's Assistent coach, too.
The beatings will continue until morale improves

Stern's eyes must've lit up when they allowed KG to be one of a few to represent the player's union. I'd be upset with the league on this, but really, what was the union thinking here?

Stern's run PR circles around the players union painting them as both irrational and illogical, than the union presents him a layup in KG?!

KG didn't go to college.  What in the world would his purpose be at a meeting strongly based around economics?

He wasn't sent to the meeting to negotiate over the details of the CBA, he was there as part of a show of force by the leagues stars that they were standing firm.

Garnett's an NBA player.  He should be there offering input.

I find the college factor in this laughable.

What does college have to do with this in the first place?  I've owned and operated a business for 20 years... I have three business degrees and a minor in economics...And didn't learn a solitary thing about business or economics in college that would apply in the real world....At least not in the United States.   The axiom "Those who can, do.  Those who can't, teach".. has never been more true than business courses in college.  A very close second would be economics courses.

Garnett is no idiot.  That much is clear. He's clearly had the smarts and the work ethic to make the most of a great opportunity.  He sure doesn't seem to have the same financial handlers as Employee #8....Or others who have squandered an amazing opportunity.  Garnett has probably been educated by accomplished financial people.  He definitely belongs in a discussion that pertains directly to him.

I don't like Garnett's on-court antics.  But nothing I've heard in his interviews tell me he's anything but an intelligent, well spoken person.

If KG really messed things up, as someone in the room even described him as a "downright ornery", then I think the NBPA is not in control of their players as they allow just anybody to negotiate in their behalf. Were Fisher and Hunter losing on their side of the deal that they have to field in KG to disrupt the negotiations? Wow, it seems the NBPA have "role players"in their midst that could enter the scenario when things don't get right for them. They are obviously not dealing judiciously.

As a Celtics fan, what KG did could cost him his roster spot as he had shown his uncompromising (greedy?) side to the management. I'm cool dealing him to another team this season so as to acquire players who know how to appreciate the care management gives. He stands to earn at least 20 million this season with a 2008 title to boot as his contract expires.
