These swap deals are getting a little crazy though - maybe we should think about capping them in the future.

Why so?  It's basically just trading first rounders, with one team retaining an insurance policy.

The individual swap options are fine and easy to keep track of; it's the multi-layered contingencies that get complicated in a hurry.

They can definitely get confusing.  At the same time, so long as there is a clear hierarchy regarding which order picks need to be exercised in (i.e., Nats' have to decide on swap with MK, before deciding on swap with Edgar), I think the system adds flexibility and creativity to trades.

It definitely would be good, though, if we could get the details on all the pick trades uploaded to a google document, or at least stickied in a thread in this forum.  That way, if there's ever a dispute over picks, there will be a source to go to.

2nd rounders you mean...

GMs should keep in mind that the more confusing you make conditions, the more possibility a pick gets traded that can't be traded and that that voids a deal (and that that voiding happens too late or later after someone realizes it, etc.)

I'm trying to keep track of picks swapped, but stuff like this makes it harder obviously. FWIW, We've had a few GMs ask in both leagues in the threads "what picks do I have...?" and multiple conditional statements just make it harder to track and increase the possiblity of a mistake on someone's part.

Actually the more I think about it I wouldn't mind if we banned the right to swap 2nd round picks. Just be bold and say I want this pick or I'll give you that pick.

I'm fine with it on 1st rounders, but 2nd rounders are generally fliers and get moved around so much more -- i think the Nat's 2nd rounder has been dealt 7 times already and the season hasn't even started. (I'd be willing to bet my own-already-traded 2nd rounder that one of these 2nd rounders that's gotten dealt 6-8 times gets missed by the GM how ends up with the pick during next year's draft).

I'd ask GMs to look into their souls  ;D and ask if the difference between the 31 and 39th pick is really enough to make the headaches for Lucky (and to the much lesser extent me as the backup keeper of the lists).

Come on, we all know you're dying to trade me Big Al for the conditional right to your pick, should it be conveyed to me by HP, and so long as it is precisely the 37th pick pick in the draft, and further so long as the Naturals finish in the bottom 4 teams in the lottery, but don't get the #1 overall selection, and further that BFM is league champion.

Deal?

Ha.  I would rather take advantage of the inevitable confusion that you're predicting.  8)

I'll agree to a ban on swapping #2s if we also ban moves during the playoffs. 8)

This is the announcement I received:

Toine's Boys get Metta World Peace and the right to swap the better of GC/YH's 2nd with Rondo's 2nd (TB's get the best pick out of those 3, DD's get the middle of those three picks)

DD's get the naturals 2nd rounder and the lesser of the better of GC/UY's 2nd, or Rondo's 2nd.

If someone could translate that for me, I'll repost.

TB gets: MWP + the right to swap 2nds with Rondo's 2nd, AFTER exercising their right to the better of Y'all Hate and Gainesville Celtic's 2nd.

DDs get: Nats 2nd, and whatever pick is left over from that set of swaps by TB.

These swap deals are getting a little crazy though - maybe we should think about capping them in the future.

this is the correct translation, LOL!

TPs to all for the funny responses,  ;D

but I'm actually serious. It'd have to be for next year, but I think its silly when you think about how many of the 2nd rounders never make the fantasy teams they're drafted by.

I apologize for any confusion the trade caused, but I plan on rebuilding through the draft so moving up in the 2nd round of a deep draft does make a significant difference for my team. It may very well be meaningless for other teams though, but at some point during the draft there are always GMs looking to move up the 1st and 2nd rounds to get "their" guy. If we can manage to keep track, I don't see what's wrong with conditions on 2nd rounders.

Fine with me.
