I like this deal for Lucky17. SWilliams is a nice source of 3s and the Knicks like him.

Another trade to announce. This one has some fine print on it. I had to reword the announcement, so I need confirmation from both sides that I've got it correct:

Designated Drinkers trade Metta World Peace and Rondo2287's 2012 2nd rounder

Toine's Boys trade Naturals 2012 2nd rounder and the better of Gainesville Celtics' and Yall Hate's 2012 2nd rounders

(In other words, DD gets two late 2nd rounders for MWP and a 2nd.)

Haha.  That's about as marginal value as you can get, I guess. 

Don't love that trade for HP, though.  Artest contributes less than nothing, and certainly doesn't help a future-oriented squad.  I wish him luck in flipping him for incremental value.  Who knows, perhaps one of our absentee GMs will like him.

Of course, we're talking about the 35th - 40th pick of next year's draft, so it's not like that player is likely to be a contributor.  (I'm blown away that people actually value 2nd rounders this year, but they're definitely a hot commodity.)

An easier way of putting that:

DD trades:  Metta World Peace

HP trades:  Naturals #2, right to swap Rondo's #2 for YH/GC #2 (whichever is left after trade with Naturals)

Is that right?  MWP for a 2nd, and the right to swap 2nds?

TB gets: MWP + the right to swap 2nds with Rondo's 2nd, AFTER exercising their right to the better of Y'all Hate and Gainesville Celtic's 2nd.

DDs get: Nats 2nd, and whatever pick is left over from that set of swaps by TB.

These swap deals are getting a little crazy though - maybe we should think about capping them in the future.

Why so?  It's basically just trading first rounders, with one team retaining an insurance policy.
