TCU to Big 12 shunning Big East.  Remaining 6 Big East football schools are left in a bad spot, especially with UConn with a foot out the door.

Sounds like TCU sees a sinking ship.

Well, from a geographical standpoint, it makes a heckuva lot more sense.  Wouldn't mind seeing the Big 12 & SMU link up too.

I agree a good move for TCU, but it is probably the death blow to the Big East.

So will this put an end to everybody saying, "BC made a mistake leaving the big east for the ACC?"

Seriously, I hope that UConn gets shut out of a football conference and has to drop down a division.  It serves them right.

I want UConn in the ACC.  Creates that northern ACC piece.  Pulls the ACC closer to Boston.  Pulls the future ACC basketball tournament to NY.

They would never put the ACC basketball tourny in NYC, Duke and UNC would never allow it.  And UConn sued not only BC but the ACC as well when BC left, they don't deserve to join.

I'd think if the Big East didn't exist anymore they'd give it a shot

ACC has already talked about having the tournament in Madison Square Garden some of the time and that is just after the addition of Syracuse and Pittsburgh, if Connecticut and Rutgers were also in the ACC it would be a no brainer that the tourney would sometimes find its way to MSG.

So, let's say TCU and UConn (and perhaps Rutgers) leave the Big East.

Is there any way that they can hold on as a BCS conference if they pick up the service academies and add Notre Dame?

If the BCS bid was automatic, I could see Notre Dame jumping in, if only because they'd essentially be insured of a BCS bowl the majority of years.

The Big East needs to target Houston and UMass and Southern Miss and just about anyone that will listen asap.  Before Middle Tennessee debates whether they want to take the call.  Fast track East Carolina and be like "Uh. Can you bring a friend?"

ND would go to the Big 10 if they made that jump.

Actually there was a pretty compelling case for ND to jump to the ACC.  Mainly for academic reasons over the big 10.  Right now the ACC has 7 of the top 40 institutions in the country.  The Big 10 only has 2.

And as a side not Notre Dame Hockey just joined Hockey East
